This working paper represents work‐in‐progress of the CBFC project (Community‐based Fish Culture in Seasonal Floodplains and Irrigation Systems), a research project supported by the Challenge Program on Water and Food (CPWF), with the aim of increasing productivity of seasonally occurring water bodies through aquaculture.The project has been implemented in Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Mali and Vietnam, where technical and institutional options for community based aquaculture have been tested. The project began in 2005 and was completed in March 2010.
This paper presents an overview of current opportunities and challenges facing efforts to increase the impact of rural and agricultural extension. The starting point for this analysis is in recognition that the days when agricultural extension was synonymous with the work of public sector agencies are over.
This paper is based on the 8th GLOBELICS International Conference: Making Innovation Work for Society (1 - 3 November 2010, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). The paper presents three projects of the Research Into Use Program, located in South asia, which are applying three agriculture value chain development oriented knowledge for wider use. Practical aspects of the process and roles played by different types of ageincies in the innovation are discussed.
This study examines the role of public–private partnerships in international agricultural research. It is intended to provide policymakers, researchers, and business decisionmakers with an understanding of how such partnerships operate, how they promote the exchange of knowledge and technology, and how they contribute to poverty reduction.

This workshop paper relates to the consultation organized by the Global Forum for Agricultural Research (GFAR), FAO of the UN (FAO), Asia-Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions APAARI), International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT). Consultation held at ICRISAT, Hyderabad, India, in December 2009. This report presents the impact and lessons learned from the Andhra Pradesh Drought Adaptation Initiative (APDAI). The APDAI was implemented as a package of pilot activities in two dryland districts in Andhra Pradesh (Anantapur and Mahbubnagar) with the aim of developing and testing approaches for natural resource-based economic activities to better respond to current climate variability and long-term consequences of climate change. The report discusses how innovations are being scaled up through integration into regular government programs for greater outreach.
En este artículo se aborda una doble paradoja que envuelve la gobernanza de los SIAL: por un lado, la emergencia de un consumidor que demanda productos específicos y con características propias de los territorios, involucrándose en formas de comercio justo y redes éticas de intercambio; pero por otro lado, las crecientes exigencias que se ciernen sobre el productor, para garantizar la autenticidad del producto y el cumplimiento de normas ambientales mediante mecanismos de certificación, la mayor de las veces ajenos al productor, provocan nuevas formas de desigualdad y asimetrías en la organ
La innovación es una condición fundamental para un crecimiento económico sostenido, que reduzca las disparidades sociales existentes en el país y permita un uso sustentable de sus recursos naturales.
La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo caracterizar los esquemas de innovación tecnológica y su transferencia en las agroempresas frutícolas del estado de Michoacán; para ello se mapeó una red de 137 nodos del sistema–producto guayaba de la región oriente de la entidad. Con el software Keyplayer 2, se calcularon los tres actores clave difusores y estructuradores, y con NetDraw se determinaron los actores conformantes de la red primaria, ello hizo un total de 33 nodos entrevistados. De éstos, se seleccionaron tres actores para efectuar el estudio de caso.
