La dégradation accrue de la qualité des aliments est l'une des conséquences de l'industrialisation du secteur agricole et de l'agroalimentaire, processus qui a été intensifié par la globalisation et la conséquente ouverture des marchés aux produits étrangers concurrençant et fragilisant les entreprises et les petites fermes agricoles locales. Cet état de fait préoccupe aussi bien les agriculteurs que les consommateurs et n'a pas laissé indifférents les acteurs locaux qui s'investissent désormais pour des produits alimentaires de qualité et de proximité.
Le présent article porte sur la sécurisation alimentaire, c’est-à-dire qu’il s’intéresse aux processus par lesquels la sécurité alimentaire peut être atteinte ou, à tout le moins, améliorée. Plus spécifiquement, il s’intéresse à des initiatives agricoles cherchant à accroître la sécurité alimentaire en milieu rural. Pour ce faire, nous effectuons une analyse comparative de trois initiatives agricoles ayant vu le jour dans des milieux ruraux au Québec.
The availability of an efficient PRRS virus monitoring information system for a large scale project remains a major issue. The purpose of this paper is to present the system developed by CDPQ (Quebec Swine Development Center) to support Quebec’s province-wide PRRS monitoring effort (3000 sites).

The paper aims to identify barriers to the development of Learning and Innovation Networks for sustainable agriculture (LINSA). In such networks, social learning processes take place, and knowledge about sustainable agriculture is co-produced by connecting between the different frames and social worlds of the stakeholders with the help of boundary objects. Studying such processes at the interface between different knowledge spheres of research, policy and practice requires a specific methodology.
This paper builds on experiences from the Research Into Use programme in South Asia that tried to up-scale promising research outputs into wider use. The experience suggests that while facilitating access to technology is important in putting research into use, it has value only when it is bundled together with other innovation-management tasks such as: developing networks, organising producers, communicating research needs, mediating conflicts, facilitating access to inputs and output services, convening innovation platforms, and advocating for policy change and other negotiated changes in
This project report from Wageningen UR (as a contribution to the CGIAR Humid Tropics research program) examines critical issues for reflection when designing and implementing research for development in innovation platforms’. The current document therefore aims to increase awareness about the complexity of research in innovation. The underlying idea is that innovation platforms can facilitate institutional changes and support system innovations through increased interaction, negotiation and learning between stakeholders, including (new) roles of research(ers).
