Los indicadores discutidos en esta publicación deben apoyar la toma de decisiones a nivel nacional y regional; apoyar la formulación de la política pública; y orientar la investigación, desarollo tecnológico y la innovación (I+D+i) del sector.

The aim of this work was to identify procedures adopted by family farms in the centre and north of Portugal and Galicia (Spain), and to verify whether they resemble those used in organic farming. A checklist was prepared in Portuguese and Spanish and applied personally to managers of family farms. The participation was voluntary and 125 valid responses were collected.
This paper examines innovations for bridging gender gaps in agricultural value chains in Africa. It focuses on innovative platforms for addressing gender gaps, considering women contribute up to 40 percent of labor in agricultural production. Women remain at the bottom of value chains and face gender-specific constraints attributable to gender and social norms, discriminatory beliefs and practices, gender-blind designs and delivery of technologies and innovations which impede women s participation in value chains.
The objective of this paper is to show how Value Chain Analysis for Development (VCA4D) applied sustainable development concept for value chain analysis to establish a manageable set of criteria allowing to provide quantitative information, which is desperately lacking in many situations in developing economies, usable by decision makers and in line with policymakers concerns and strategies (the “international development agenda”).
The sustainable development of Nigeria is being challenged by a persistent large financial inclusion gender gap (FIGG). The same gender gap in the country’s smallholder agriculture frustrates the multifunctional potentials of agriculture in achieving sustainable development outcomes. The smallholders drive the agricultural sector, comprise majority of the worlds’ poor and are found in all regions in Nigeria.
Equipping agricultural extension and advisory services with nutrition knowledge, competencies and skills is essential to promote nutrition-sensitive agriculture. This report presents the results of an assessment of capacity within agricultural extension and advisory services, undertaken in Telangana State, India, with the global capacity needs assessment (GCNA) methodology developed by FAO and GFRAS. Las cuatro buenas prácticas que se presentan a continuación son experiencias que fueron parte del Proyecto Innovación y Competitividad de la Papa (INCOPA) que formó parte de la Iniciativa Papa Andina, un programa regional implementado por el Centro Internacional de la Papa (CIP) y financiado por la Agencia Suiza para el Desarrollo y la Cooperación (COSUDE).
Nicaragua es el país más grande de América Central, y la agricultura es uno de los motores del desarrollo económico y social. El sector agrícola aporta el 16.1 por ciento del producto interno bruto (PIB), el 33 por ciento del empleo formal y la seguridad alimentaria de la población. Alrededor de la producción agropecuaria se integran 260 000 productores.
Actores locales y productores agropecuarios en Latinoamérica tienen acceso limitado a la información agroclimática y, cuando logran acceder a ella, tienen dificultades para traducirla en conocimiento procesable y accionable. Si bien los servicios climáticos son reconocidos por contribuir a cerrar la brecha entre la generación de información climática y su uso por parte de las partes interesadas, su provisión y uso en Latinoamérica aún representa un desafío crítico.
