Land and property rights, migration, and citizenship are complex issues that cut across all social, economic, and political spheres of West Africa. This paper provides an overarching scoping of the most pressing contemporary issues related to land, migration, and citizenship, including how they intersect in various contexts and locations in West Africa. The way issues are analytically framed captures structural challenges and sets them against the regional and global meta-trends of which policy makers and practitioners should be aware for conflict-sensitive planning.
Con el objetivo de confeccionar los planes de fincas a partir de la aplicación de una metodología para tal fin, se realizó una investigación en 25 fincas de los municipios Perico, Martí, Colón y Jagüey Grande (provincia Matanzas, Cuba). Se confeccionó una guía a partir de la metodología de Palma y Cruz (2010), modificada según el contexto cubano, y se capacitó a varios facilitadores que trabajaron con grupos de campesinos, por lo que en la elaboración de los planes se aprovechó los conocimientos de las personas con mayor experiencia.
Este panfeto describr las experiencias del Proyecto innovaciones Hortalizas. El proyecto ha consolidado acciones con enfoque de equidad de género en diferentes niveles (familias, organizaciones y plataformas institucionales) con el propósito de promover la participación e inserción de hombres y mujeres con igualdad y equidad en todas sus fases de implementación. Todas las acciones están orientadas a alcanzar mayor participación en los espacios políticos (organizaciones, juntas directivas), espacios económicos (mercados y cadenas) y acceso a formación y desarrollo de capacidades.
Despite myriad challenges, Kenya has emerged in recent years as one of Africa’s frontier economies, with headline growth in the most recent decade propelling the country toward middle-income status. Less well understood is how risk dynamics associated with production, markets, and policy adversely impact sector performance, in terms of both influencing ex ante decision making among farmers, traders, and other sector stakeholders and causing ex post losses to crops, livestock, and incomes - destabilizing livelihoods and jeopardizing the country’s food security.
The case studies use a framework developed jointly by Katalyst project and Springfield Centre to capture changes of market systems supported by the project. They describe developments in input markets of vegetable, farmed fish and in the maize production and how they contribute to an inclusive economic growth with benefits for small and poor farmers and for private companies in Bangladesh.

The study describes the historic development of the Danish Agricultural Advisory Services (DAAS). This is the case of a national advisory system owned and managed by the farmer organizations and financed with public subsidies combined with farmer/user payments, gradually developed to full user payment. The links and relations between the empowerment of farmers and their organizations, their evolving roles in advisory systems, and the innovative financial mechanisms in extension, especially pull-mechanisms, are analyzed.
