This paper is a contribution to the establishment of a new capacity development (CD) 9 strategy, a process that the Consortium Office will facilitate, with external input, during 2013. The paper explores the lessons learned from CGIAR’s experience with CD and reflects the findings of a working group that was brought together in late 2012. The objective of the paper is to identify the roles that individual and institutional CD might play in CGIAR in order to increase CGIAR’s impact on the welfare of smallholder farmers and the sustainability of their farming systems.
mNutrition was a five-year global initiative supported by the Department for International Development (DFID) between 2013 and 2018, organised by GSMA and implemented by in-country mobile network operators (MNOs) and other providers. The evaluation was carried out by a consortium of researchers from Gamos, the Institute of Development Studies, and the International Food Policy Research Institute. The project’s overall objective is to improve the rural population’s resilience to food insecurity by increasing their income through Castor oil plant, Honey, Beans and Goat value chains. GIZ is contributing to the Androy, Anosy and Atsimo- Antsinanana regions’ economic development and aims to integrate mainly vulnerable households in these chains, especially households run by a woman. GIZ has selected high potential sectors and wants to make sure that they can adapt to climate change.

This paper surveys members of a beef cattle value chain in Vietnam's Central Highlands to examine the translation of value chain actor's resources into positional advantage and financial performance in an emerging country. Using structural equation modeling techniques, the paper estimates a path model to explore how resources are linked to positional advantage and ultimately financial performance. This study attempts to contribute to the literature in two ways.

This Policy Memorandum provides policy advice to the government of Liberia (GOL) in an effort to mainstream gender issues in policies, programs, and projects supporting agricultural production and value-chain development. It is organized as follows. Section I reviews women's roles in Liberian agriculture and agricultural value chains, drawing on a variety of data sources, including the 2007 Core Welfare Indicator Questionnaire Survey (CWIQ) and the two rounds of the Comprehensive Food Security and Nutrition Survey (CFSNS, 2006 and 2008).
Este artículo de revista describe el papel de La alianza de información y documentación agropecuaria de las Américas (SIDALC) en sus diez años de experiencia. De acuerdo con el texto el SIDALC ha permitido a más de 150 instituciones de la América Latina y el Caribe, gracias a la cooperación técnica del IICA, a mantener en operación un sistema de información y documentación sobre agricultura, ambiente, alimentación y áreas afines en el hemisferio.
Este documento presenta una versión resumida y gráfica del documento técnico que acompaña a la Re- solución 464 de 2017 del Ministerio de Agricultura y Desarrollo rural, por medio de la cual se adoptan los Lineamientos Estratégicos de Política Pública para la Agricultura Campesina, Familiar y Comunitaria. Por tratarse de un documento con estas características, se recomienda al lector que quiera profundizar en alguna de las secciones aquí señaladas, remitirse directamente a la Resolución 464 y al documento técnico que la acompaña.
El presente documento presenta un marco conceptual para los términos agricultura familiar e inclusión, hace una caracterización de la agricultura familiar y los problemas relativos a la exclusión en las áreas rurales, y analiza la institucionalidad creada para responder a estas situaciones. Finalmente, sugiere un conjunto de propuestas de lineamientos estratégicos para el fortalecimiento e inclusión de la agricultura familiar en las dinámicas del desarrollo de los territorios rurales, construidas participativamente en un taller interinstitucional.
