These recommendations are a compilation of 2 regional studies at sub-Saharan Africa level which focused on research and technology transfer in the field of rainwater harvesting irrigatio nmanagement on one hand (section 3), and effective policy recommendations on the use of rainwater for off-season small-scale irrigation on the other (section 4). The regional studies upon which this transnational study is based come from the analysis of national studies in Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
These advanced training materials have been produced to foster the capacity of practitioners from private, nongovernmental and public sectors on one hand, and academics and scientists on the other, to practically implement cost-efficient RWHI technologies and practices in arid and semi-arid areas. Therefore, these training materials intend to provide the required information to support proper planning, design and construction of cost-efficient RWHI technologies and practices, with special emphasis on the specific problems encountered in Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.

The current study sought to analyse the livelihood impact of innovation platforms on small holders in the study areas based on the previous studies that identified successful Innovation Platforms in Eastern and Western Kenya. The study concentrated on four successful innovation platforms that were identified in a previous study In that study, fifteen innovation platforms were ranked based on a given criterion out of which the four innovation platforms were purposively chosen.
The study was conducted in Kirinyaga County on rice and bananas and in Kisumu County on rice. Was used qualitative and quantitative methods and interviewed 247 farmers comprising 182 rice and 60 banana farmers respectively. Ten key informant interviews were conducted in Ahero and nine in Mwea Rice Schemes and the surrounding areas. One focus group discussion was held with Mwea Jua Kali/Valley bottom farmers. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics, frequency analysis and cross tabulations.

La metodología que se propone incluye escalas cualitativas para analizarse con técnicas multivariadas como prueba de normalidad multivariada, análisis por componentes principales, aglomerados y correlación canónica. El presente artículo tiene como objetivo principal, analizar la cadena agroalimentaria de conservas de tomate natural en la provincia de Matanzas. En la actualidad existen deficiencias en el abastecimiento de alimentos en las cadenas cubanas, se hace necesario mostrar una solución inmediata para elevar la producción y disminuir las brechas en la logística que une la producción primaria con las redes comercializadoras, para ofrecer los alimentos frescos o procesados a los consumidores.
El presente artículo expone una propuesta metodológica para el análisis de la competitividad de Redes de valor agroindustriales. El planteamiento metodológico consiste en tres etapas de análisis circunscritas dentro del Marco Lógico: el diagnóstico de la Red sustentado en las ventajas competitivas y el análisis de las mega tendencias del entorno basado en el método prospectivo estratégico y los modelos de negocios; definición del problema central y su relación causal; y la definición de acciones estratégicas.
