This book will benefit people and teams involved in planning and decision making. On the basis of their pragmatic value in guiding decisions, needs assessments are used in various professions and settings from emergency rooms to corporate boardrooms to guide decision making. Nonetheless, although needs assessments have many different applications, in this book on needs assessments as they are applied in organizations to accomplish results, as opposed to their use in personal decisions or medical triage.
El presente documento recoge una buena cantidad de insumos que informan sobre los procesos que están dirigiendo el desarrollo tecnológico de la cadena, se describen las temáticas y las tecnologías que cada actor o actores así como la agenda que están impulsando. Además, se identifican las áreas líderes hacia donde se está enfatizando y/o orientando la promoción de la innovación, temas comunes, posibilidades de cooperación y vacios temáticos.
El presente estudio es una herramienta técnica para orientar los esfuerzos de las redes nacionales de innovación tecnológica en Honduras, y tiene como objetivo identificar la problemática y la agenda para la innovación tecnológica de los actores de la cadena de maíz en el país.

This review seeks to assess the usefulness of innovation systems approaches in the context of the Integrated Agricultural Research for Development (IAR4D) in guiding research agendas, generating knowledge and use in improving food security and nutrition, reducing poverty and generating cash incomes for resource-poor farmers. National governments, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, have limited budgets and are forced to make difficult funding decisions regarding the provision of social services and the support of agricultural programs. These provisions can play a critical role in rural incomes and agricultural production but due to data constraints, the effects of different types of social services on agricultural productivity in this region have not been analyzed in detail.
