This report summarizes the international symposium organized on 21 June 2016 by the Tropical Agricultural Platform (TAP) to discuss capacity development for food security and nutrition in Agricultural Innovation Systems (AIS). In addition, the symposium aimed to present the findings of the e-conference on "Innovation systems for food security and nutrition: understanding the capacities needed" that took place between 18 April and 13 May 2016.
This poster has been developed by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and Wageningen University (WUR) under the CGIAR research program on Roots Tubers and Banana (RTB) and describes shortly the science-based methods to identify and overcome bottlenecks for scaling of innovation. It breaks down innovation packages and analyses its individual technological, policy, market and partnership components along a 9-Level Scaling Readiness Ladder science-based methods to identify and overcome bottlenecks for scaling of innovation
The proposit of this brief was to look across several projects and experiences in digital agriculture and synthesize insights and lessons on what really works for nextgeneration agriculture and rural development practice and policies. The information in this brief is based on interviews held during this workshop with twelve entrepreneurs working in digital innovations for agriculture
This brief introduces a set of business-plan challenges faced by digital agribusiness start-ups in ACP countries and promising ways to overcome them. Challenges covered include access to finance, knowing the customer base, sourcing data, access to technical, business and management skills and support, the policy environment, what farmers need, languages and formats, trust, and data ownership and privacy

This brief discuss about how the sustainability of digital agribusiness projects can be enhanced through three main steps: 1) plan for sustainability in the initial project design, 2) monitor sustainability readiness throughout the life-cycle of the project, and 3) verify that indicators of sustainability have been achieved during the project close-off process
This collection of posters from the TAP-AIS project illustrates key achievements of the project towards strengthening national agricultural innovation systems (AIS) in Africa (Burkina Faso, Eritrea, Malawi, Rwanda, Senegal), Latin America (Colombia), Asia and the Pacific (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Pakistan). For each of these nine countries, and for their respective regions, the posters provide: i) thematic focus and context; ii) constraints in the AIS; iii) capacity development interventions; iv) outcomes; v) the way forward.
Innovation Platforms are increasingly being proposed and used in agricultural research for development project and programs. Innovation Platforms provide space to farmers, agricultural service providers, researchers, private sector and other stakeholders to jointly identify, analyse and overcome constraints to agricultural development. Although innovation platforms have been successful in addressing agricultural challenges, there is a risk that they are promoted as a panacea for all problems in the agricultural sector... which would clearly be a big mistake.
