La sécheresse qui sévit dans le Sahel depuis les années 1970 a fortement réduit les productions dans les principaux secteurs d’activités que sont la pêche, l’élevage et l’agriculture. Dans le Delta Intérieur du Niger au Mali (DIN), la pêche dont le développement est intimement lié aux fluctuations inter-saisonnières et interannuelles de la crue du fleuve Niger, est en crise. Les prises ont diminué de moitié, beaucoup de pêcheurs sont partis, certains ont adopté des pratiques non durables et les règles sociales subissent d’importantes modifications.
Les conséquences sur les territoires des changements climatiques d’origine anthropique sont variables dans leurs expressions comme dans leurs effets, et les territoires sont inégaux face à ces variations climatiques en termes d’exposition aux effets (fonction de facteurs physiques, sociaux, économiques, culturels, politiques, etc.) comme en termes de capacité de réponse (capacité d’appréhension, d’anticipation, de réparation, etc.).
La sécurité alimentaire en Algérie semble plus que menacée par un niveau de croissance démographique incontrôlé, par la dégradation des conditions physiques du secteur de l’agriculture, par la baisse des ressources hydriques et par le retard de développement technique de l’activité. À partir d’une revue bibliographique sur la situation actuelle du secteur agricole, le texte définit ses niveaux de développement et les défis de l’avenir auxquels ce secteur sera confronté.

This paper presents an analysis of stage 1 training service provided in the Northern Horticultural Zone to nine Farmer Based Organisations (FBO’s) in the West Mamprusi District of the Northern Region in Business Capacity Building from October, 2008 to December, 2010. Farmer Based Organisations (FBO’s) of 450 farmers consisting of 65.10% males and 34.90% females were trained by the authors under the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) Agricultural Project.

A seed system that assures the availability of the desired quality of seed to the producer at the right time is indispensable for his farming enterprise. In the case of the potato crop, the seed most commonly used is strictly speaking no seed, but a tuber. The constraints and opportunities in seed potato systems in East Africa are of a combined social, economic and technical nature.
This chapter documents the learning process within the framework of innovation of soil fertility management practices that emerged from the implementation of Participatory Extension Approach (PEA) as part of service delivery reorientation within the Limpopo Department of Agriculture in South Africa.The chapter gives a narrative description of what transpired during the interaction between researchers, extension officers and farmers, the processes involved, the lessons and the conclusion.
