The development community has shown increasing interest in the potential of innovation systems and value chain development approaches for reducing poverty and stimulating greater gender equity in rural areas. Nevertheless, there is a shortage of systematic knowledge on how such approaches have been implemented in different contexts, the main challenges in their application, and how they can be scaled to enable large numbers of poor people to benefit from participation in value chains.
Este estudio de caso cuenta historias inspiradoras de cambio derivadas del proyecto propuesto por el acuerdo de colaboración entre el CIP y el FIDA y permitió recuperar 171 testimonios en los tres países, de los cuales los propios productores protagonistas priorizaron 24 casos que para ellos reflejaban mejor lo que había significado el proyecto. De estos 24 casos, se seleccionaron cinco historias, de las cuales tres son de Bolivia (sus historias recibieron puntajes más altos), seguidas de una de Perú y otra de Ecuador. Tres de ellas corresponden a mujeres y dos a varones.
This literature review was developed by the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) as part of the Policies, Institutions and Markets Program of the CGIAR. Its objective is to gain a better understanding of scale up processes, strategies and practices in programmes aimed at reducing poverty through improved markets. Its focus is the dissemination of new behaviour through these markets as a result of the interventions of said programmes.

This report make an analysis of Sorghum value chain in Uganda. Based on that, innovation opportunities in Uganda that can influence expansion of sorghum Value Chain and enhance socio-economic gains of all the actors are identified. Fue coordinado por el Centro Internacional de la Papa (CIP) y financiado por la Unión Europea a través del Fondo Internacional de Desarrollo Agrícola (FIDA).
