This event launches a new phase of the JP RWEE that will even further enhance its holistic approach to advancing rural women’s economic empowerment by integrating a climate resilience lens to tackle deep rooted social norms which limit women’s participation and leadership in rural communities including through applying gender transformative approaches.
The World Food Programme (WFP) has issued an urgent warning that 45 million people are teetering on the very edge of famine in 43 countries, with the slightest shock likely to push them over the precipice. Globally, up to 811 million people are chronically hungry, with 283 million acutely food insecure.
Against this backdrop, WFP is aiming to target 140 million people in 2021. This document outlines the general context and provides a snapshot of WFP’s work across several areas.

Dans le passé, les formations sur les opérations après-récolte n’ont pas été normalisées entre les différents pays membres du programme P4P.
This document is part of the project “Strengthening the adaptive capacity to climate change in the fisheries and aquaculture sector of Chile”, executed by the Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture and the Ministry of the Environment, and implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, with funding from the Global Environment Facility. The Sourcebook is the outcome of joint planning, continued interest in gender and agriculture, and concerted efforts by the World Bank, FAO, and IFAD. The purpose of the Sourcebook is to act as a guide for practitioners and technical staff inaddressing gender issues and integrating gender-responsive actions in the design and implementation of agricultural projects and programs. It speaks not with gender specialists on how to improve their skills but rather reaches out to technical experts to guide them in thinking through how to integrate gender dimensions into their operations.

Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), or FAW, is an insect native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas. In the absence of natural controls or good management, it can cause significant damage to crops. It prefers maize, although it can feed on more than 80 additional species of crops including rice, sorghum, millet, sugarcane, vegetable crops and cotton.
La FAO, IBM et Microsoft cherchent des moyens concrets et durables d’utiliser l’intelligence artificielle dans le respect des principes d’éthique approuvés par le pape François 24 septembre 2020, Rome - Lors d'une manifestation organisée aujourd'hui à l'Académie pontificale pour la vie, l'Organisation des Nations Unies pour l'alimentation et l'agriculture (FAO), IBM et Microsoft ont réitéré leur engagement en faveur de la mise au point de formes d'intelligence artificielle (IA) qui soient inclusives et promeuvent des moyens durables de concrétiser la sécurité alimentaire et nutritionnelle.
Lors de la conception de projets, il importe de faire intervenir les parties prenantes locales le plutôt possible afin de veiller à ce que les activités de renforcement des capacités répondent vraiment à leurs besoins. Les processus multipartites peuvent aussi mener à à une plus grande appropriation des activités et des résultantes des projets. La présente étude de cas offre un exemple de processus multipartite mis en place avec succès au Soudan pour renforcer les systèmes d’information sur la sécurité alimentaire et la nutrition dans quatre États.
Bien que le nombre de personnes vivant au-dessous du seuil de pauvreté en Ouganda ait diminué de moitié cette dernière décennie, le taux de malnutrition a augmenté de 27 à 30 pour cent. Au cours de la même période, la consommation alimentaire journalière par habitant a reculé de 9,5 pour cent, ce qui représente une baisse des apports énergétiques alimentaires. Plusieurs raisons expliquent cette situation, mais selon le Plan d’action pour la nutrition de l’Ouganda (2011-2016) le manque de capacités est l’un des cinq principaux facteurs à l’origine de la persistance de la malnutrition.
