This book contains a collection of papers that discuss the experience of an Agricultural Research for Development (AR4D) capacity building program in Papua New Guinea (PNG). The program was the AusAID-funded Agricultural Research and Development Support Facility (ARDSF), which ran for fi ve years from 2007 to 2012, and which sought to improve the delivery of services by agricultural research organisations to smallholder farmers.
This paper reviews the current policies and programmes of EIARD members in relation to capacity development and makes recommendations on future directions. The main issues and recommendations will be incorporated into a policy brief in which specific policy options or guidelines will be presented. In particular, the document refers to the YPARD e-discussion, which was held in September 2012 and raised the concern of the impact of the global economic recession and climate change on agriculture. This could lead to declining agricultural productivity, and low production further impacts the declining interest of youth in Agricultural activities.
The overall objective of the Comprehensive Assessment of the Agricultural Sector (CAAS) is to provide an evidence base to enable appropriate strategic policy responses by the Government of Liberia (GoL) and its development partners in order to maximize the contribution of the agriculture sector to the Government's overarching policy objectives. Given the strong relationship between growth in agricultural productivity and poverty reduction, future efforts in Liberia need to focus on productivity enhancing measures with a pro-poor focus that increase incomes.

El Gobierno de Perú está comprometido en mejorar el nivel de la electrificación rural, incrementando la cobertura del servicio eléctrico en áreas rurales de un 55 por ciento estimado para fines de 2010 a un 88 por ciento para el 2020. El presente informe consiste en una evaluación de los usos productivos de la electricidad en Perú dentro del contexto del Proyecto de Electrificación Rural cuyo propósito es ampliar el servicio de electricidad y atraer la participación de la población, los gobiernos locales y las empresas eléctricas de distribución regionales.
El propósito de este Manual es ejercer de guía para profesionales y personal técnico al tratar cuestiones de género y al integrar acciones de perspectiva de género en el diseño e implementación de programas y proyectos agrarios. No se dirige a especialistas de género para que mejoren sus capacidades sino más bien a expertos técnicos para guiarlos a analizar a conciencia cómo integrar la dimensión de género en sus operaciones.
La Red Agricultura G-20 ha sido una iniciativa conjunta del Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA) y la Secretaría de Agricultura, Ganadería, Desarrollo Rural, Pesca y Alimentación (SAGARPA) de México, de cara a la VII Cumbre del Grupo de los 20 (G20). El objetivo de esta red virtual fue vincular a estudiantes, académicos y el sector civil para que expresaran sus opiniones y analizaran a profundidad los temas de la agricultura con miras al encuentro de líderes del G20, celebrado en la ciudad mexicana de Los Cabos en junio de 2012.
