Existe hoy una preocupación creciente acerca de cómo los sistemas de monitoreo y evaluación permiten generar nuevos conocimientos para la comprensión no sólo de los efectos e impactos de una intervención sino también sobre la manera en que suceden los cambios. Este trabajo presenta la metodología de sistematización de experiencias, entendida como una estrategia multiactoral para evaluar intervenciones de desarrollo con énfasis en los procesos y las lecciones aprendidas.

Over the past decades public investment in major, medium and minor irrigation systems has not yielded the expected results. The solution to the growing water crisis lies in the institutional reform of existing social systems so as to manage the demand for water. In recent times, there has been an emphasis on capacity-building of farmer organizations (FO) in irrigation projects. This study focuses on investigating the institutional capacities of FOs in irrigation systems in the Anuradhapura and Kurunegala districts.

It is meant to be an easy to use manual, increasing the research capacity, skills and knowledge of its users. This report tells the story of a gender pilot that was carried out in water users' organizations for irrigated agriculture in the Peruvian highlands or Sierra region. It was designed upon the request of Peru's ministry of agriculture, with the objective to strengthen the role of women in water management and to improve their condition as agricultural producers. At first, a gender diagnostic was carried out to better understand the different barriers that hinder the attendance and thus equality of participation of women in trainings and meetings.
