Given the diversity and context-specificity of innovation systems approaches, in March 2007 the World Bank organized a workshop in which about 80 experts (representing donor agencies, development and related agencies, academia, and the World Bank) took stock of recent experiences with innovation systems in agriculture and reconsidered strategies for their future development. Consultation held at ICRISAT, Hyderabad, India, in December 2009. La literatura de los intermediarios que participan en el proceso de innovación les atribuye la capacidad de cerrar brechas y disminuir los costos de transacción entre actores exploradores y explotadores de conocimiento, siendo esta interacción vital para que exista un sistema de innovación. Sin embargo, no hay un consenso en la literatura respecto al impacto real de los intermediarios en el sistema en el que actúan.
The paper, prepared for the "High Level Policy Dialogue on Investment in Agricultural Research for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific" (Bangkok Thailand; 8-9 December 2015), presents the Common Framework on Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems (CDAIS).The framework is a core component of the Action Plan of the TAP, a G20 Initiative, aiming to increase coherence and effectiveness of capacity development for agricultural innovation that lead to sustainable change and impact at scale.

However, despite its importance, various indicators from the sector show that all is not well.
Innovation has become the promising concept to overcome problems and enhance agricultural performance in agricultural research and policies. In the past, innovation was mainly seen as being developed by science or enterprises, and only recently the focus has shifted from a linear to a systemic perception, acknowledging that innovation is a dynamic process that implies the participation of a diversity of stakeholders. Consequently the role of multiple stakeholders, including farmers, in the innovation process receives more attention.
This paper outlines key areas of intervention that are identified as the core of FAO's strategy on strengthening Agricultural Innovation Systems (AIS) across multiple areas of work (e.g. research and extension, agroecology, biotechnology, green jobs, resourcing etc.) for achieving sustainable rural development.

Face à la dégradation des ressources naturelles, opter vivre dans son milieu natal et s'assurer une bonne production agropastorale nécessite de la part des acteurs des actions concertées. Le projet Fertipartenaires aide les producteurs de cette province à se concerter, à réfléchir à leurs problèmes, proposer et expérimenter des solutions et les évaluer afin d'améliorer leur sécurité alimentaire.
En este artículo se aborda una doble paradoja que envuelve la gobernanza de los SIAL: por un lado, la emergencia de un consumidor que demanda productos específicos y con características propias de los territorios, involucrándose en formas de comercio justo y redes éticas de intercambio; pero por otro lado, las crecientes exigencias que se ciernen sobre el productor, para garantizar la autenticidad del producto y el cumplimiento de normas ambientales mediante mecanismos de certificación, la mayor de las veces ajenos al productor, provocan nuevas formas de desigualdad y asimetrías en la organ
