This brochure summarizes key results of the work done by the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the center (1970-2020).
De octubre del 2014 a noviembre del 2016, el Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA) y la Coordinadora Latinoamericana y del Caribe de Pequeños Productores y Trabajadores de Comercio Justo (CLAC) ejecutaron el proyecto “Fortalecimiento de capacidades agroempresariales y asociativas de organizaciones de pequeños productores para su vinculación a los mercados locales utilizando el modelo de agronegocios de comercio justo”, con recursos del Fondo de Cooperación Técnica del IICA (FonCT)1 y la CLAC2 .
Caja de Herramientas Metodológicas PRIICA/PIAF tiene como objetivo es brindar a los técnicos y productores líderes un instrumento útil que fortalezca sus competencias y habilidades para generar y potenciar procesos de desarrollo de nuevos conocimientos en conjunto con los productores y productoras de agricultura familiar, en el marco de los procesos de investigación y validación tecnológica.
Rendir un informe anual del trabajo realizado por el IICA es más que un compromiso con la transparencia y la rendición de cuentas; constituye también un medio para reconocer los avances de nuestros Estados Miembros en beneficio de sus pueblos. Mountain agricultural systems (MASs) are multifunctional and multidimensional sociocultural systems. They are constantly influenced by many factors whose intensity and impacts are unpredictable. The recent Hindu Kush–Himalayan Assessment Report highlighted the need to integrate mountain perspectives into governance decisions on sustaining resources in the Hindu Kush–Himalayan region, emphasizing the importance of sustainable MASs.
This paper explores possible pathways for different types of farmers, considering where they might be in the future, beyond 2030 and the era of the SDGs. It outlines some of the necessary interventions, risks and trade-offs associated with these different pathways, for farmers operating in a variety of agricultural systems globally, including cropping, livestock and tree (silvopasture) systems. It also considers the impacts of different disruption scenarios that could radically alter anticipated pathways and offers a range of possible interventions.
