Este documento dentifica y tipifica diferentes estrategias y mecanismos innovadores que han sido aplicados en distintos escenarios para aumentar la cobertura y facilitar el acceso de los agricultores familiares a esos servicios, los que pueden servir de referencia para otras iniciativas que se quieran impulsar en ese sentido, bien sea para mejorar la calidad y eficiencia, o para aumentar la oferta de esos servicios.

This book chapter focuses on dimensions of rural learning in Africa, with a special focus on rice farmers. Four key challenges in rural learning are addressed, namely social inclusion, scaling up, collecting farmer feedback and assessing impact. The potentially powerful role of videos in rural learning is illustrated. Experiences from Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice) and partners are presented alongside other relevant experiences.

The central question in increasing productivity and generating incomes in African agriculture is how to move from technology generation to innovations that respond to constraints of agricultural production along the value chains.
