This document represents a collaborative effort by the Secretariat of the Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR) and the Regional Forums to agree on a common policy for advocacy on Information and Communication Management. The recognition of knowledge as a critical resource for practising efficient farming and developing agriculture makes sharing and exchange of knowledge globally vital for agricultural development.
This declaration, by the participants of the V FORAGRO Meeting, aims at promoting agriculture with knowledge and at adopting the perspective of innovation in the technological policies and in the organisations.

The transition to a market for agricultural research and knowledge-intensive services presents various challenges for actors in the agricultural knowledge infrastructure, on both the demand side (end users of innovations such as farmers, and the government) and the supply side (providers of research and knowledge-intensive services). New organizational arrangements try to bring together supply and demand in the agricultural knowledge infrastructure. This thesis is about such new organizational arrangements
Public-private partnerships are a new way of carrying out research and development (R&D) in Latin America's agricultural sector. These partnerships spur innovation for agricultural development and have various advantages over other institutional arrangements fostering R&D. This report summarizes the experiences of a research project that analyzed 125 public-private research partnerships (PPPs) in 12 Latin American countries. The analysis indicates that several types of partnerships have emerged in response to the various needs of the different partners.
This paper synthesizes Component 2 of the Regoverning Markets Programme. It is based on 38 empirical case studies where small-scale farmers and businesses connected successfully to dynamic markets, doing business with agri-processors and supermarkets. The studies aimed to derive models, strategies and policy principles to guide public and private sector actors in promoting greater participation of small-scale producers in dynamic markets. This publication forms part of the Regoverning Markets project.
Este libro se propone mostrar el modo en que la construcción de sentido en torno al concepto de interdisciplina en equipos de trabajo, es eje de un proceso de comunicación que acompaña cambios organizacionales. Dichos cambios no son estructurales sino que intervienen en las relaciones entre los sectores de investigación y extensión, las dos ramas fundamentales del Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria (INTA), organismo nacional dedicado a la generación y transferencia de tecnología.
Investigadores de la Facultad de Agronomía de la Universidad de Buenos Aires participan desde 2003 en este proceso, aplicando el método de Interacción del Saber Técnico Popular (STP) y el Saber Científico (SC). Esta metodología complementaria de investigación se fundamenta en reconocer la validez y la utilidad del saber técnico popular y la fuerza y eficacia que puede generar su interacción con el saber científico.
This paper examines the role of postsecondary agricultural education and training (AET) in sub-Saharan Africa in the context of the region’s agricultural innovation systems. Specifically, the paper looks at how AET in sub-Saharan Africa can contribute to agricultural development by strengthening innovative capacity, or the ability of individuals and organisations to introduce new products and processes that are socially or economically relevant, particularly with respect to smallholder farmers who represent the largest group of agricultural producers in the region.
Este trabajo reúne cuatro profundos estudios sobre cuestiones estratégicas del sector agropecuario, los alimentos y la agroenergía en el país, a partir de una mirada detallada del escenario internacional y el lugar de la Argentina en él. El momento de su lanzamiento no podría ser más oportuno. Hoy el mundo, y con él la Argentina, enfrentan el desafío de satisfacer la demanda creciente de alimentos y, al mismo tiempo, garantizar su acceso a cada vez más personas, sin poner en riesgo el desarrollo sustentable ni la seguridad energética.
