This briefing note highlights the major findings of the project 'Wealth creation through integrated development of potato production’, which has brought a wide range of positive livelihood changes for potato farmers in the highlands of Ethiopia. The project began in 2008 and was aimed at addressing constraints faced by potato producers in Ethiopia and improving the wealth and livelihoods of potato producers.
Upon a request from Jimma University, IPMS conducted four days Training of Trainers Workshop on Results-Based Monitoring & Evaluation to the University staff. The training workshop was organized jointly by the University and ILRI-IPMS from January 16-19, 2012 at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine campus, Jimma. Thirty one participants drawn from different departments (Animal Science, Economics, Accounting, Information Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, Management, Rural development & Agricultural extension etc.) have attended.
This report brings the experience of an Sharing Evend and Police tour held in eastern africa by FAO and the Rwanda agricultural board. The Field School study tour was organized by FAO Rwanda in collaboration with the Rwanda Agricultural board and involved participants from Kenya and Ethiopia. The participants from Ethiopia were 2 (Government and FAO) and those from Kenya were 9 (FAO, MOALF, University, Research). The tour was focussed on two districts namely Rulindo and Rubavu. On the first day the group visited FS facilitator training in Rulindo and later a visit to FFS facilitator group.
The XII National Encounter of Smallholder Farmer Innovators of Honduras was held in the city of Siguatepeque from 3-5 September 2014. One hundred twenty smallholder men and women farmers, as well as decision makers participated at this meeting. The meeting was a space to exchange experiences of smallholder farmer innovations, as well as to celebrate a seed fair to exchange seeds, local varieties and traditional knowledge.
The Africa Research In Sustainable Intensification for the Next Generation (Africa RISING) program comprises three research-for-development projects supported by the United States Agency for International Development as part of the U.S. government’s Feed the Future initiative.
A Training Workshop for Trainers in Results-Based Monitoring & Evaluation (RBM&E) was held at Adama from 02 to 05 July of 2012. This Workshop was jointly organized by the Oromia Bureau of Agriculture (OBoA) and Improving Productivity and Market Success (IPMS) project upon the request from OBoA. This is the 6th training workshop and it is part of the capacity building program that IPMS provided for the four regions where the project was operating and for federal MoA. Twenty two trainees (19 males and 3 females) have been trained with full attendance.
The IPMS capacity building workshop was to develop the capacity and practical skill of frontline staff to integrate a gender and HIV/AIDS perspective into market-led agricultural development interventions and their day to day activities of rural development.
Pour parvenir à la sécurité alimentaire et réduire la pauvreté, les emplois décents sont essentiels. Souvent, dans les communautés rurales pauvres du monde entier, les hommes et les femmes sont entièrement tributaires de leur travail, qui est leur seule source de revenu, mais les emplois sont très précaires, peu rémunérés et les conditions de travail, parfois dangereuses. Plus de 85 pour cent des jeunes, soit environ 24 pour cent des travailleurs pauvres, vivent dans des pays en développement.
Ce manuel a été produit comme ressource pour les facilitateurs nationaux de l'innovation (FNI) à travers les pays du projet de développement des capacités pour les systèmes d'innovation agricole (CDAIS). L'objectif de ce manuel est de guider le niveau d'organisation des activités ainsi que de coacher les facilitateurs nationaux de l'innovation. Cela les aidera à mieux comprendre les différentes étapes du processus de coaching.
