Des investisseurs publics et privés, nationaux ou étrangers, lancent des programmes d’acquisition, de location ou d’utilisation contractuelle de terres agricoles dans des pays disposant de ressources foncières bon marché, où le marché foncier relève généralement de l’État (Afrique, Asie centrale, Amérique du Sud). Cette tendance s’est accélérée à la suite de la crise alimentaire du printemps 2008, puis de la crise fi nancière. Selon la FAO, entre 20 et 30 millions d’hectares de terres auraient fait l’objet de transactions ces dernières années.
Este encuentro sobre “aprendizaje efectivo” se ha diseñado a partir de la premisa de que la verdadera adquisición de conocimientos se logra mediante la utilización de métodos de aprendizaje orientados a desencadenar la creatividad, acompañados del uso de herramientas e información que les permitan a los participantes identificar el tipo de inteligencia que predomina en ellos, con el fin de que aprovechen de mejor manera sus capacidades. This publication aims to inform the debate on the status of food security in Arab countries, and provide policy options for enhancing food security in the future, in line with the overarching directions of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Given the heterogeneity of the Arab region, both in terms of natural endowment, particularly in water resources, and economic capabilities, the report’s analysis divides the region into four subregions, each consisting of a more homogeneous group of countries.
Despite recent improvements in the national average, stunting levels in Afghanistan exceed 70% in some Provinces. Agriculture serves as the main source of livelihood for over half of the population and has the potential to be a strong driver of a reduction in under-nutrition. This article reports research conducted through interviews with stakeholders in agriculture and nutrition in the capital, Kabul, and four provinces of Afghanistan, to gain a better understanding of the institutional and political factors surrounding policy making and the nutrition-sensitivity of agriculture.
AgriFoodTech start-ups are coming to be seen as relevant players in the debate around and reality of the transformation of food systems, especially in view of emerging or already-established novel technologies (such as Artificial Intelligence, Sensors, Precision Fermentation, Robotics, Nanotechnologies, Genomics) that constitute Agriculture 4.0 and Food 4.0. However, so far, there have only been limited studies of this phenomena, which are scattered across disciplines, with no comprehensive overview of the state of the art and outlook for future research.

This is the final report of the fifth regional consultative forum meeting of the Asia-Pacific Fishery Commission (APFIC) convened in Hyderabad, India from 19 to 21 June 2014. It was attended by 85 participants from 17 countries and 28 national, regional and inter governmental partner organizations and projects. Forum participants came to the meeting to develop and reach consensus on ways of implementing policies and action plans designed to address the major challenges confronting the fisheries and aquaculture sectors in the region.

The working paper presents a new toolkit for the implementation of a participatory vulnerability assessment (PVA) in rural localities, by introducing the methodology, as well as the findings, from a pilot study in Sokoine (Zepisa, Hombolo Ward) in Tanzania. It is based on a participatory methodological approach and follows a multidimensional conceptualisation of social vulnerability to climate change.
