Défis Sud avait déjà consacré un numéro spécial au « genre » en développement en 2005. Neuf ans plus tard, dans ce numéro « genre et transformations de l’agriculture familiale », la revue entend croiser les dynamiques présentes dans ce type d’agriculture en abordant les rapports femmes-hommes, les relations de pouvoir et les changements sensibles dans les interactions sociales, culturelles et professionnelles entre femmes et hommes dans les exploitations agricoles familiales.
There is plenty of information available in the public domain that covers various aspects of extension and know-how about new methodologies for implementation. However this information is often scattered and presented in complex academic language. Hence practitioners, who often have very limited time and/or may only have basic formal education, find it difficult to make use of this information. The Global Good Practices Initiative aims to bridge this gap by providing information about extension approaches and methods in easy-to-understand formats.

Within the agricultural sector, family businesses represent 80 percent of the productive units that contribute to the economic development of Argentina and Uruguay. Africa is now at a crossroads, from which it can take concrete steps to realize its potential or continue to lose competitiveness, missing a major opportunity for increased growth, employment, and food security. Confronté à la perte de ses terres agricoles, il prend conscience de la difficulté de trouver des terres pour développer des projets d’agriculture de proximité comme le sien. Il part alors à la rencontre d’autres fermiers européens qui ont eux aussi bataillé pour trouver des terres et les conserver dans la durée.
Chez nous, certains en rêveraient presque … fini le chant du coq à 5h du matin, les odeurs de purin dans les campagnes, les manifestations des producteurs de lait à coup de tracteurs qui bloquent les entrées des villes, et aussi terminé l’argent du contribuable «gaspillé» dans le gouffre des subventions agricoles. D’autres, avec un haussement d’épaules, ne noteraient peut-être même pas la différence.
