This book collects 24 stories of change from the EU-funded CDAIS project. Launched in 2015, the overall objective of CDAIS is to make agricultural innovation systems more efficient and sustainable in meeting the demands of farmers, agri-business and consumers. The stories are about the eight pilot countries - in Africa, Asia and Latin America - in which CDAIS operates. Este libro demuestra a través de datos la importancia de la investigación y el desarrollo tecnológico, la extensión y la transferencia tecnológica, la vinculación tecnológica, las articulaciones con otras instituciones, la gestión del conocimiento y la comunicación para los desafios del desarrollo rural. Asimismo, expone que los procesos de innovación son altamente sensibles a los contextos socioeconómicos y a la implementación de políticas públicas.
Este libro propone ofrecer ideas y evidencia para expandir nuestro entendimiento acerca de cómo entender el rol que puede tener la innovación para un desarrollo rural sostenible. Entre 2016 y 2017, la Dirección Nacional de Extensión Agropecuaria (DNEA) de Costa Rica coordinó un proceso de diálogo y consulta dentro de la institución y con otras entidades relacionadas con la extensión y la innovación agropecuaria, con el acompañamiento de la FAO, la CEPAL y consultores asociados a la Red Latinoamericana de Servicios de Extensión Rural (RELASER), para desarrollar un nuevo enfoque de los procesos de acompañamiento técnico y fortalecimiento de capacidades de los productores agropecuarios, con el fin de crear sistemas intensivos en información y conocimiento.
