This brochure presents startup profiles, an incubatee coffee table book which captures the brief profile of agriculture startups being incubated at a-IDEA, the Technology Business Incubator of National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (ICAR-NAARM) supported by Department of Science & Technology of India. The incubation centre at NAARM is providing a conducive environment for growth of startups in agriculture.
This material was presented duting the conference: Big Data, a multiscale solution for a sustainable agriculture in Copenhagen Denmark in 2017 and brings an overview of the technological innovations of the French agricultural sector.
This paper discusses external influences on innovation platforms (IPs) and the options for effective responses. The platforms examined in this paper were conceived as vehicles for facilitating institutional change in support of innovation that benefits smallholders, in selected agro-enterprise domains in Benin, Ghana and Mali. They were designed and implemented in a manner that enabled experimentation with processes of change in the selected domains.
The CDAIS project, funded by the EU and jointly implemented by Agrinatura and FAO, enhances innovation in agriculture by improving the functional capacities of individuals, organizations and systems. It brings partners together and uses continuous learning cycles to address the challenges and opportunities in and around selected ‘innovation niche partnerships’ in eight pilot countries in Central America, Africa and Asia.
L’objectif général du projet est d’améliorer la résilience de la population rurale face à l’insécurité alimentaire en augmentant leur revenu à travers la promotion des chaînes de valeur. La GIZ contribue au développement économique dans les régions Androy, Anosy et Atsimo Atsinanana et vise surtout à intégrer des ménages vulnérables dans ces chaînes, notamment les ménages dirigés par les femmes. La GIZ sélectionne des filières à haut potentiel et souhaite les adapter aux changements climatiques.
In Mexico there are public programs that promote the improvement of the technical and productive conditions of the agriculture sector through organisations such as Produce Foundation Puebla (FUPPUE). This organisation has implemented diverse mechanisms oriented to promoting farmers' technological and productive capabilities. However in some cases when the FUPPUE leaves them, farmers' capabilities and performance decrease within a short period of time.
This book discusses innovation problems and opportunities for family farming in the different regions of the American continent, as well as the role of hemispheric, regional and national agrifood research systems. Likewise, it provides a description of the main innovation actions and projects promoted by IICA, and the main success cases over recent years.

Hoy en día, los saberes locales y las prácticas ancestrales de producción agropecuaria, cobran una singular relevancia; por cu además de permitir la vida de los pueblos originarios y poblaciones rurales tradicionales, han demostrado ser claves para pre ambiente y los recursos naturales; la biodiversidad y los hábitats de especies terrestres y acuáticas, en equilibrio con el entorno. En Paraguay, existe un pleno consenso en que estos saberes tienen su origen y difusión en los conocimientos adquiridos de generación en generación, basados en la cultura de los pueblos guaraníes.
El presente documento es un conjunto de estudios realizados en 2015 en ocho países y es complementario al ya publicado en 2014 y reeditado/actualizado por el IICA en 2016 con el título “Políticas públicas y Agriculturas familiares en América Latina y el Caribe: balance, desafíos y perspectivas” coordinado por Eric Sabourin, Mario Samper y Octavio Sotomayor, considerando que el 2014 fue declarado Año Internacional de la Agricultura Familiar.
