This literature review was developed by the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) as part of the Policies, Institutions and Markets Program of the CGIAR. Its objective is to gain a better understanding of scale up processes, strategies and practices in programmes aimed at reducing poverty through improved markets. Its focus is the dissemination of new behaviour through these markets as a result of the interventions of said programmes.
Con el objetivo de conocer aspectos relevantes que constituyen aprendizajes en el proceso de gestión del desarrollo local en el municipio Perico, provincia de Matanzas –Cuba–, se realizó un ejercicio de sistematización en el período 2013-2016. Para el análisis se tomó como guía las variables identificadas en el eje de «gestión para el desarrollo», en sus dimensiones productiva y cultural asociativa.
This article highlights the experiences and lessons generated by the project collaborators in enhancing the adaptive capacities of selected upland farming communities in Southeast Asia. This study investigated how value chain governance influences farmer participation in vegetable markets and food security in Kenya. This study employed exploratory case study design to provide chain architecture, isolate primary actors, their roles, relations, constraints and opportunities for upgrading by smallholders.
El objetivo del estudio que se refiere en este artículo ha sido identificar los estilos de liderazgo que han permitido a las organizaciones productoras de uva de mesa sonorense, incorporar la responsabilidad social empresarial (RSE). La investigación adoptó un diseño transversal descriptivo, mediante la aplicación de un cuestionario a directivos de organizaciones productores de uva. Los resultados muestran, que los liderazgos transformacionales y transaccionales permiten mayores niveles de RSE.
Con la finalidad de evaluar prácticas de gestión de innovación tecnológica en Pequeñas y Medianas Empresas (PyMES) agroindustriales del Estado de Chihuahua, se diseñó y aplicó un instrumento, tomando como referencia el concepto establecido por la Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económico (OCDE).
Ante la poca oferta de textos que, aplicando los conceptos de marketing al área de los Agronegocios, indiquen cómo detectar oportunidades de mercado, se presenta una propuesta sobre cómo ayudar al estudiante en estos aspectos. La enseñanza que se entrega a los estudiantes incluye los conceptos de mercado, en que se les propone y recomienda partir de las necesidades del consumidor, generar ideas y luego evaluarlas, lo que está muy bien, siempre que se conozcan dichas necesidades.
This paper analyzes the operational constraints experienced by the different actors in the rice value chain in Myanmar. Both primary and secondary data on the rice value chain in Ayeyarwaddy Region, the main rice-growing area in Myanmar, were collected. The actors in the region suffer from constraints in material input, production, financial, distributional, and institutional. This study examines the actors’ profitability, together with their sociodemographic and operational characteristics, to provide proper policy guidelines to address constraints
This paper analyzes the status of Pakistan’s agriculture in the world and quantifies the potential of improving productivity and quality of value chain at its different nodes. A great potential of expansion in the value chain of large number of agricultural commodities produced in Pakistan are observed. Just bringing the average crop yield levels at par to the world average yield can generate over US$11 billion additional revenues to the producers. Despite lower yield, majority of commodities have lower prices compared to the world average prices at the farmgate.
This paper analyzes the integration of coffee producers into potential sustainability-oriented market segments. The analysis is presented through the lens of value chains by mapping the different coffee chains present in a predominantly coffee growing region, Kodagu, district, India as well as the governance structures that influence interactions and strategies for upgrading
