La conférence sur « Agriculture écologique : atténuer le changement climatique, assurer la sécurité alimentaire et l’autonomie pour les sources de revenus ruraux en Afrique » s’est tenue à Addis – Abéba (Ethiopie) du 26 au 28 novembre 2008.
« Le riz, c’est la vie ».
Telle était la devise choisie, en 2004, par l’Organisation mondiale pour l’alimentation et l’agriculture (FAO) afin de célébrer l’année internationale du riz. Nul qualificatif ne peut en effet mieux décrire le rôle stratégique joué par ce petit grain. Qu’il soit blanc, jaune, rouge, violet, gluant, consommé en grains, en pâte, en soupe, ou en dessert, le riz constitue un enjeu de taille pour la sécurité et la souveraineté alimentaires des pays en développement.
Cette édition illustre la possibilité d'utiliser les biocarburants comme source alternative au pétrol.
El objetivo del presente trabajo fue evaluar la aplicación de la metodología de redes como una herramienta para el análisis socioeconómico y la transferencia de tecnologías de un sistema producto, como es el caso del sistema de bovinos productores de carne y doble propósito en el Estado de Michoacán
Investigadores de la Facultad de Agronomía de la Universidad de Buenos Aires participan desde 2003 en este proceso, aplicando el método de Interacción del Saber Técnico Popular (STP) y el Saber Científico (SC). Esta metodología complementaria de investigación se fundamenta en reconocer la validez y la utilidad del saber técnico popular y la fuerza y eficacia que puede generar su interacción con el saber científico.

The transition to a market for agricultural research and knowledge-intensive services presents various challenges for actors in the agricultural knowledge infrastructure, on both the demand side (end users of innovations such as farmers, and the government) and the supply side (providers of research and knowledge-intensive services). The Newsletter of the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP) provides regular updates on global activities by TAP and its partners, on the CDAIS projects and on upcoming related events. This issue specifically refers to the period from October 2020 to January 2021, including also some activities of February 2021.
The publication is a part of the FAO work to assist the member countries in reforming their national Extension and Advisory Services (EAS). It highlights the main elements and provide concrete guidelines for the policy makers to coordinate pluralism in extension and advisory services (EAS), i.e. ensuring that multiple EAS providers from public, private sector and NGOs/donors, provide quality services that contribute to national agricultural priorities and wellbeing of rural producers, collaborate and exchange information to maximise synergies and minimise gaps and duplications.
This video illustrates the goals and work of the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP), a G20 initiative supported by the European Union to improve efficiency and effectiveness of capacity development programmes and of knowledge sharing in order to strengthen agricultural innovation systems in the tropics and sub-tropics. The Secretariat of TAP is hosted by the Research and Extension Unit, Office of Innovation, of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
