The visioning process brings together representatives of actor groups within the agricultural innovation systems (AIS) to build on their common understanding of AIS and the need for a coordinated approach. The process involves a wide spectrum of interested parties including ministries, legislative bodies and representatives of the private sector plus development partners and civil society.
Galvanizing the commitment of agricultural innovation systems (AIS) actors through learning, participation and reflection is a prerequisite for capacity development (CD) initiatives. This phase ensures both a common understanding of the process of CD for AIS as well as to create ownership and high-level support by those that head and lead representative bodies of actors within the system.
The proposit of this brief was to look across several projects and experiences in digital agriculture and synthesize insights and lessons on what really works for nextgeneration agriculture and rural development practice and policies. Policy brief No. 3. Adequate nutrition is a crucial welfare dimension. Malnutrition at a young age can have severe con- sequences for a person’s development of human, social, and economic capital. Also in later phases of one’s life, malnutrition can severely affect health and restrict productivity as well as overall quality of life. Efforts to improve nutrition among rural populations, for example through more diversified diets, are therefore key components of many rural development agendas, especially in Africa where undernutrition is still a large public health prob- lem.

El Programa Territorios Productivos (PTP) se diseñó para potenciar la productividad, la producción y los ingresos de los hogares en condición de pobreza, que habitan en municipios y localidades en donde los pequeños productores y campesinos tienen un peso social y económico preponderante. La estrategia consiste en fortalecer la organización de los participantes a nivel local y territorial, para que a través de ella puedan realizar un conjunto de inversiones dirigidas a resolver cuellos de botella de los principales ejes de la economía del territorio en que ellos participan.
When designing projects, it is important to engage local stakeholders as early as possible to ensure that capacity development (CD) activities are truly relevant to their needs. Multi-Stakeholder processes (MSPs) can also lead to greater ownership of project activities and outcomes. This case study gives an example from Sudan of successful MSPs for developing Food Security and Nutrition Information Systems (FSNIS) in four states.
