Ce manuel est produit dans le cadre de la mise en œuvre du Projet GCP/MLI/033/LDF "Intégration de la résilience climatique dans la production agricole pour la sécurité alimentaire en milieu rural au Mali". Le projet est exécuté grâce à la facilitation technique de la FAO et le financement du Fonds Mondial pour l’Environnement (FEM). Son objectif est de renforcer les capacités du secteur agricole à faire face au changement climatique en incorporant les préoccupations et les stratégies d’adaptation dans les initiatives de développement agricole au Mali.

Les pays du Sahel et de l’Afrique de l’Ouest sont confrontés à une dégradation continue et alarmante des ressources naturelles causée essentiellement par la pression des actions anthropiques sur l'environnement. Parmi ces ressources en dégradation, figurent en bonne place les terres. La dégradation des terres n’est pas seulement un problème sous régional, mais aussi un défi mondial. La communauté internationale s’est donc mobilisée à travers plusieurs mécanismes pour accompagner les efforts menés par les pays affectés.

This study aims to 1) describe crises in agri-food systems in the past 10 years, 2) understand their effect on farmers, and 3) address policy options to contain crises, mitigate their impacts in the short-run, and adapt to their presence in the medium- to long-run. The study leverages the context of five value chains – dairy, potatoes, rice, sesame, and sweet potatoes – across three countries supported by GIZ’s Green Innovation Centers (GIC) Project – Burkina Faso, Kenya, and Tunisia.
The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development cooperation (BMZ) commissioned the Global Project “Green Innovation Centers for the Food and Agriculture Sector” (GIC) to intensify measures to combat Post Harvest Losses (PHL). In this context, a study on the economic sustainability of post-harvest investments has been conducted in June 2023. The objective of this study is to provide an objective and economically differentiated analysis of investments targeting PHL in the selected partner countries.
