The study analyzed the value chain of natural rubber in Nigeria. The study specifically mapped the natural rubber value chain and identify the functions performed by the respondents in the chain; identified the existing marketing channels and estimated the marketing margin at each value addition point. Data for the study were collected using a well-structured questionnaire administered to 425 respondents selected using a two–stage sampling process involving random and purposive sampling techniques
This analysis evaluates a real world complex intervention to study the impacts of an agricultural value chain development program on livelihood outcomes, in hill and mountainous regions of Nepal. The intervention was not designed for the study and no baseline data existed to compare the final outcomes. Data came from a carefully designed household survey administered to 3,028 households (50% beneficiaries and other 50% non-beneficiaries) across seven districts in Western Nepal.
In this paper, was used a case study approach to investigate the patterns of employment and income generation in cotton and rice value chains in Senegal and Benin. The purpose of the paper is to provide a comprehensive description of both value chains in both countries, emphasizing export potential and innovation entry points with the goal of assessing capacity to generate income, create jobs, and bring about food security.
The aim of the present article is to propose a new approach to improve interactions between stakeholders, using traceability and contractualization. Faced with a crisis generated by volatility, collective action, incorporating all stakeholders, including consumers, is needed: but what exactly must be done? The article first describes the SDSC approach which combines three main concepts: Extended Demand, Extended Supply and Demand-Supply Chain (DSC), and then goes on to detail how a collaborativemodeling tool needs to be built up.
This paper presents a qualitative case study of a US based beef co-operative integrated to a VBSC. Was used an analytical framework of viability, sustainability and resilience to analyse impacts at farm-level. Our analysis highlights a number of positive effects on farm-level viability, sustainability and resilience including improvements to market orientation and price stability, among others which provide crucial insights for beef PO development in Ireland.
The objective of this paper is to show how Value Chain Analysis for Development (VCA4D) applied sustainable development concept for value chain analysis to establish a manageable set of criteria allowing to provide quantitative information, which is desperately lacking in many situations in developing economies, usable by decision makers and in line with policymakers concerns and strategies (the “international development agenda”).
A “farmers’ market” identifies a common area where farmers meet periodically to sell food products which do not need to be processed before consumption. Farmers’ markets have recently experienced steady growth mainly due to increasing demand for traditional foods and rising consumers’ interest towards locally produced food products. It is also the case that they provide transparency along the supply chain and decrease information asymmetries.
En este artículo se analiza la calidad y la gestión ambiental en las actividades que desempeñan los viveristas, productores, empacadores y transportistas, los cuales forman la cadena de valor en las empresas que exportan aguacate a los Estados Unidos de América. Las exportaciones de aguacate en el 2011 a E.U. han disminuido en un tres por ciento con respecto al año anterior. El análisis se realizó de todo el modelo de variables propuestas, este plano de análisis permite conocer el origen de los resultados
El objetivo general de la investigación que dio lugar a este material fue: Identificar los principales elementos que deben conformar una estrategia orientada a incrementar el valor agregado de las exportaciones apícolas cubanas. Se concibió el Enfoque de cadena de valor agregado como propuesta metodológica para el análisis y tomando en consideración las particularidades para Cuba.
Este estudio se realiza como parte del proyecto socio-económico “Estudio de sistemas de pequeños ganaderos eco eficientes hacia diferenciación de productos y pago de servicios ambientales en los municipios de Patía y Mercaderes, Cauca”, contribuyendo al cumplimiento del objetivo específico “Analizar la disposición de los consumidores de carne a pagar por servicios ambientales (PSA) y/ productos diferenciados”.
