Le présent document expose les principaux domaines d’intervention qui ont été désignés comme éléments essentiels de la stratégie de la FAO destinée à renforcer les systèmes d’innovation agricole (SIA) à divers niveaux (recherche et vulgarisation, agroécologie, emplois verts, mobilisation de ressources, etc.) pour parvenir à un développement rural durable.
Postharvest loss exacerbates the food insecurity and welfare loss of farming households in developing countries. This paper analyses the effect of improved storage, a climate-smart crop management technology, on household food and nutrition security, market participation and welfare using nationally representative data from Ethiopia. Endogenous switching regression models are employed to control for selection bias and unobserved heterogeneity.
The goal is to improve capacity for joint innovation, and strengthen this capacity at partnership, organizational and institutional/policy level, through an iterative process with the different stakeholders involved i.e. action and reflection, consolidation of lessons learned and re-planning. Preparatory actions must be well coordinated to ensure success and continuity of the CDAIS project.”

In this paper, presented at the 12th European IFSA Symposium (Workshop: "Generating spaces for innovation in agricultural and rural development") in 2016, the authors assess the integration of new entrants to small-scale farming into agricultural knowledge and innovation systems (AKIS), in four study sites located on Europe’s periphery (Bulgaria, Poland, Portugal, and the United Kingdom).
While privatization of extension has received considerable attention with respect to implications for public and private good, less consideration has been given to structural and relational implications for knowledge sharing.
The 2016 Global Agricultural Productivity Report advocates policies and innovations in five key areas to help the agriculture and food sectors manage uncertain seasons of fluctuating business cycles and climate change, while fostering competitiveness today and sustainable growth tomorrow.

Los servicios de extensión rural han contribuido al desarrollo agropecuario, sin embargo existe una brecha entre el conocimiento disponible y su adopción por parte de los agricultores, que dichos servicios no han logrado disminuir de manera sustancial. Por esta razón, el objetivo de este estudio fue analizar las tendencias de la investigación en extensión rural, que permitan identificar enfoques que contribuyan al planteamiento de recomendaciones para un servicio de extensión rural orientado al desarrollo de capacidades de autogestión de las comunidades rurales.
