This paper discusses issues related to support for capacity strengthening for agricultural research for development (ARD) by member countries of the European Initiative for Agricultural Research for Development. It summarises the findings of an analysis of the policies, programmes and projects in capacity strengthening for ARD of fourteen European countries. These policies, programmes and projects were previously examined in relation to a common set of criteria covering aspects of needs identification, design, implementation, assessment, documentation and sharing of information.
The design of capacity development interventions is a crucial phase in the capacity development (CD) for agricultural innovation systems (AIS) cycle of the TAP Common Framework. Intervention planning follows from and builds on the visioning exercises and needs assessments carried out beforehand. Options for CD interventions will depend on the country context, ongoing programmes and funding opportunities. Prioritization should also include identification of activities that can take off immediately.
The Outcome mapping factsheet provides a series of steps to gather information on the outcomes of the process initiated by capacity development for agricultural innovation. This tool provides an overview of the outcome mapping methodology used for planning and assessing projects/programmes oriented towards change and social transformation. A simplified version (three stages and 10 steps) is proposed, based on the original IDRC methodology and experiences from the application in the CDAIS project.

El objetivo de esta propuesta es presentar el uso de técnicas estadísticas para analizar y evaluar el proceso de adopción de innovaciones tecnológicas. La metodología que se propone incluye escalas cualitativas para analizarse con técnicas multivariadas como prueba de normalidad multivariada, análisis por componentes principales, aglomerados y correlación canónica. El presente artículo tiene como objetivo principal, analizar la cadena agroalimentaria de conservas de tomate natural en la provincia de Matanzas. En la actualidad existen deficiencias en el abastecimiento de alimentos en las cadenas cubanas, se hace necesario mostrar una solución inmediata para elevar la producción y disminuir las brechas en la logística que une la producción primaria con las redes comercializadoras, para ofrecer los alimentos frescos o procesados a los consumidores.
