El objetivo de esta guía es proponer una metodología para la “evaluación de la sostenibilidad de los sistemas de producción de la agricultura familiar”, a través de “indicadores de sostenibilidad”. Con ellos se busca detectar “puntos críticos” en los sistemas de producción que limitan su sostenibilidad, de forma tal que se pueda iniciar un proceso de elaboración de “estrategias de gestión sostenible” enfocado al fortalecimiento de la agricultura familiar y al desarrollo de los territorios rurales en los que se desenvuelven.
Desde finales de la década de los ochenta, la humanidad experimenta la ruptura de muchos de los modelos, enfoques y paradigmas que hasta entonces habían guiado los procesos de desarrollo, los que abarcan las dimensiones social, económica, ambiental, tecnológica y política. La globalización y la revolución de la informática y las telecomunicaciones, entre otras, han provocado incertidumbre y complejidad para analizar los fenómenos y procesos que inciden en el desarrollo.
En este artículo se presenta y discute la información fruto de los talleres realizados durante el 2007 y 2008 en los Centros Locales de Innovación Agropecuaria (CLIA), con la participación de productores y otros actores locales en nueve provincias del occidente, centro y oriente cubano. Se muestra el caso del CLIA Las Tunas.
En el marco del desarrollo del proyecto internacional Diseminación del Fitomejoramiento Participativo en Cuba, programa para fortalecer la Innovación Agropecuaria Local (PIAL) III Fase, y como parte de las herramientas de monitoreo y evaluación se elaboró una metodología para evaluar la influencia del contexto local sobre los impactos del proyecto. It will also contribute to the Feed the Future goals of reduced hunger and poverty by building the capacity of Champions—defined as men and women leaders in agriculture—to develop, lead, and manage the policies, structures and processes needed for the transformation process.
Africa Lead — Feed the Future’s Building Capacity for African Agricultural Transformation Program — supports the advancement of agricultural transformation in Africa as proposed by the African Union Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP). Africa Lead also contributes to the Feed the Future goals of reduced hunger and poverty by building the capacity of Champions — i.e., men and women leaders in agriculture — and the institutions in which they operate to develop, lead, and manage the policies, structures, and processes needed for transformation.
