The issue of regional differences in development has moved to the center of the development debate in Sri Lanka, partly after the release of regional poverty data. For the past many years, there have been significant and increasing differences between the Western province and the rest of the country in terms of per capita income levels, growth rates of per capita income, poverty rates, and the structure of provincial economies. The structure of the report is as follows: chapter two looks at the poverty/growth/agriculture nexus in the poorest regions of Sri Lanka.

The Papa Andina network employs collective action in two novel approaches for fostering market chain innovation. The participatory market chain approach (PMCA) and stakeholder platforms engage small potato producers together with market agents and agricultural service providers in group activities to identify common interests, share market knowledge and develop new business opportunities.
The Sourcebook is the outcome of joint planning, continued interest in gender and agriculture, and concerted efforts by the World Bank, FAO, and IFAD. The purpose of the Sourcebook is to act as a guide for practitioners and technical staff inaddressing gender issues and integrating gender-responsive actions in the design and implementation of agricultural projects and programs. It speaks not with gender specialists on how to improve their skills but rather reaches out to technical experts to guide them in thinking through how to integrate gender dimensions into their operations.
El objetivo del presente trabajo fue caracterizar el consumo de setas en la ciudad de Mérida, a través de la perspectiva de los agentes comerciales o intermediarios (supermercados y restaurantes) para facilitar a los productores el acceso al mercado de las setas en forma exitosa. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal con un enfoque cuantitativo, en donde la muestra estuvo conformada por 15 supermercados y 28 restaurantes. Se emplearon las técnicas de observación directa y entrevista.

La presente investigación describe y analiza las acciones comerciales que se realizan en seis grupos de productores apícolas ubicados en la periferia de la capital del estado de Puebla, México. In the systems perspective on innovation, co-operation between several different types of actors is seen as key to successful innovation. Due to the existence of several gaps that hinder such effective co-operation, the scientific and policy literature persistently points at the need for intermediary organizations to fulfill bridging and brokerage roles. This paper aims to provide an overview of the insights from the literature on such ‘innovation brokers’, and to contribute to the literature by distilling lines of enquiry and providing insights on one of the lines identified.
El presente artículo describe los resultados de diseminación participativa de semillas (DPS) en términos productivos, ambientales y socioeconómicos en Cuba y México. El concepto de diseminación participativa de semillas (DPS) surgió en Cuba a partir de la integración de las ferias de diversidad de semillas con la experimentación y diseminación de semillas por los campesinos. Una feria de diversidad de semillas es un método donde los fitomejoradores, productores y agentes extensionistas tienen acceso a la diversidad en uno o más cultivos.
