The universal application of the T&V model of agricultural extension in more than 50 countries is one of agricultural development’s best known failures. The approach worked well in places where it was originally developed, but proved inappropriate almost everywhere else. In this report Rasheed Sulaiman V. and Andy Hall worry that an apparently successful extension innovation piloted in India is set to suffer a similar fate.
Este trabajo reúne cuatro profundos estudios sobre cuestiones estratégicas del sector agropecuario, los alimentos y la agroenergía en el país, a partir de una mirada detallada del escenario internacional y el lugar de la Argentina en él. El momento de su lanzamiento no podría ser más oportuno. Hoy el mundo, y con él la Argentina, enfrentan el desafío de satisfacer la demanda creciente de alimentos y, al mismo tiempo, garantizar su acceso a cada vez más personas, sin poner en riesgo el desarrollo sustentable ni la seguridad energética.

Given the diversity and context-specificity of innovation systems approaches, in March 2007 the World Bank organized a workshop in which about 80 experts (representing donor agencies, development and related agencies, academia, and the World Bank) took stock of recent experiences with innovation systems in agriculture and reconsidered strategies for their future development. El estudio se realizó para conocer la contribución de la escuela de campo a productores en la capacitación y divulgación de la tecnología milpa intercalada en árboles frutales (MIAF). Una tecnología que contribuye en aumentar la producción de maíz y frijol e incorporar la producción intensiva de frutales de calidad comercial, eleva los ingresos, el empleo familiar y la captura de carbono del medio ambiente.

We examine the impact of ambiguous and contested land rights oninvestment and productivity in agriculture in Akwapim, Ghana. Weshow that individuals who hold powerful positions in a local politicalhierarchy have more secure tenure rights and that as a consequencethey invest more in land fertility and have substantially higher output.The intensity of investments on different plots cultivated by a givenindividual corresponds to that individual’s security of tenure overthose specific plots and, in turn, to the individual’s position in thepolitical hierarchy relevant to those specific plot
In this report, food distribution is analysed within the context of food systems in Tanzania. This study looks at entry points for further studies of food system issues within the country that will affect progress towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used, first to map and conceptualize the complexity of the food system in Tanzania, and then to quantify the likely impacts of scenarios of action and inaction.
