The working paper presents a new toolkit for the implementation of a participatory vulnerability assessment (PVA) in rural localities, by introducing the methodology, as well as the findings, from a pilot study in Sokoine (Zepisa, Hombolo Ward) in Tanzania. It is based on a participatory methodological approach and follows a multidimensional conceptualisation of social vulnerability to climate change.
Le projet RIVAGE veut favoriser l’adoption de pratiques alternatives pour gérer les impacts de la pollution diffuse dans le bassin versant de la rivière Pérou en Guadeloupe. Son objectif est de produire et partager les connaissances sur les processus, les impacts et les pratiques innovantes avec les acteurs du territoire. Pour faciliter la prise en compte des résultats, le projet a créé une « école-acteurs ». L’école-acteurs est un espace d’échanges autour des thématiques liées à la pollution diffuse agricole.
Le Mali a quadruplé sa population entre 1960 et 2020. The following contents were included in this newsletter (April–June 2014): the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) held a two-day workshop on Engagement of Youth Entrepreneurship for Agricultural Transformation in Africa, from 28-30 May at IITA, Ibadan, Nigeria; cassava processing factory was established at the IITA Kalambo station in DR. Congo; project coordinator visits sites to evaluate project activities in Tanzania; stories on cassava, rice, wheat and maize were detailed.

Souvent, dans les communautés rurales pauvres du monde entier, les hommes et les femmes sont entièrement tributaires de leur travail, qui est leur seule source de revenu, mais les emplois sont très précaires, peu rémunérés et les conditions de travail, parfois dangereuses. Plus de 85 pour cent des jeunes, soit environ 24 pour cent des travailleurs pauvres, vivent dans des pays en développement.

Relying entirely on survey information and personal exchanges with over 70 scientists from within the CGIAR network, this working paper attempts to achieve a better understanding of the scope of social learning related efforts undertaken in CGIAR and main issues of relevance to more current efforts, such as that planned by the CGIAR program on Climate Change Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS). A wide range of methods was identified, where groups of people learn in order to jointly arrive at solutions to pressing food security problems.
This study assessed intermediate results of an investment intended to support climate change adaptation and resilience-building among farmers’ cooperatives in Rwanda. The assessment was based on a purposive sampling survey of farmers’ perspectives conducted in sites in 10 programme intervention districts of the country’s 30 districts.
