The international workshop on Agricultural Innovation Systems in Africa (AISA) was held in Nairobi, Kenya, on 29–31 May 2013. This project report from Wageningen UR (as a contribution to the CGIAR Humid Tropics research program) examines critical issues for reflection when designing and implementing research for development in innovation platforms’. The current document therefore aims to increase awareness about the complexity of research in innovation. The underlying idea is that innovation platforms can facilitate institutional changes and support system innovations through increased interaction, negotiation and learning between stakeholders, including (new) roles of research(ers).
Innovation platforms can be complex and challenging so effective monitoring is critical to ensure that they function effectively and achieve their intended purposes. A monitoring system is a collection of methods and tools to track and measure innovation activities, processes among partners, and the results of these processes. Les politiques d'innovation dans les filières agricoles en Côte d'Ivoire depuis 2011 reposent sur la création d'un dispositif de transferts technologiques qualifié de "Plateformes d'Innovation", pour introduire des plants de variétés et d'hybrides améliorés. Cet article s'intéresse particulièrement aux conséquences des "Plateformes d'Innovation Banane Plantain" (PIP) dans la réorientation des choix technologiques locaux. Il interroge leurs résultats sur l'amélioration de l'indépendance alimentaire.
Dans le contexte de crise économique et environnementale qui touche la filière banane à la Guadeloupe, l'objectif de cette contribution est d'engager une réflexion sur l'organisation d'acteurs à l'origine des innovations agro-écologiques. Nous interrogeons les dynamiques d’acteurs face aux crises et perturbations qui touchent l'agriculture antillaise, par le biais de l'organisation qu'ils mettent en place pour accompagner le changement.
De nombreux agriculteurs africains pratiquent des formes d'agriculture potentiellement qualifiables de "?biologiques?". Pourtant, la capacité de l'agriculture biologique à répondre aux enjeux de la sécurité alimentaire en Afrique est encore mal connue, car il existe peu de références expérimentales disponibles dans cette région. L'élicitation probabiliste est une méthode permettant de rendre compte de manière précise des connaissances d'experts sur une ou plusieurs quantités d'intérêt, et de décrire les niveaux d'incertitude associés.
L'article propose d'utiliser le concept de sécurisation alimentaire pour étudier les actions et processus qui améliorent une situation alimentaire, plutôt que celui de sécurité alimentaire qui se réfère avant tout à la satisfaction de besoins alimentaires. Dans une première partie, ces deux concepts sont précisés et discutés. La sécurité alimentaire est caractérisée selon plusieurs dimensions : disponibilités, conditions d'accès, qualités des aliments, stabilité, mais aussi objectifs sociaux et politiques.
