Este documento describe los resultados de la primera evaluación de desempeño institucional realizada en AGROSAVIA, en términos de logros, retos y oportunidades principales relacionados con el rol de la corporación en el Sistema Nacional de Innovación Agropecuaria (SNIA). Considera también el impacto sobre la sociedad colombiana y su ruralidad, la calidad y pertinencia de la agenda dinámica corporativa, la sostenibilidad de la gestión de recursos humanos, físicos y financieros y la gobernanza para su operación.
El objetivo de esta publicación es aportar a la consolidación de ocho fincas demostrativas de cacao, a través de la implementación de prácticas sostenibles como sistemas agroforestales que contribuyan a fortalecer su capacidad de adaptación y mitigación al cambio climático, de manera que estas fincas se conviertan en promotores de la producción sostenible en la región.
Although many smallholder communities are yet to embark on their journey towards gender empowerment, this report presents best practice examples which demonstrate that significant strides can be achieved in relatively short time periods. Women’s Coffee initiatives are engaging consumers about the role of women in coffee production, and providing additional premiums that fund projects targeted at women, such as the projects implemented by UNICAFEC in Peru and Soppexcca in Nicaragua.
The final report outlines key outputs and outcomes of the implemented activities between 7 April 2015 and 6 April 2019 including review of the seed sector in Afghanistan; development of legal, managerial and technical documents for Public-Private-Producers Partnership (PPPP) model in seed sector, revitalization of seed testing laboratories, capacity building of stakeholders and awareness raising among stakeholders. The project was initiated in 2015 with a brainstorming workshop to create awareness about the PPPP concept among stakeholders and document their suggestions.
The focus of this research is youth-led innovation, whereby young people instigate potential solutions to a problem, often one that they have identified or defined themselves, and take responsibility for developing and implementing a solution. This report analyses the research to date on youth-led innovation and identifies evidence of impact. It highlights that opportunities to participate in innovation increase young people’s likelihood to innovate in the future and what helps or hinders youth-led innovation.
To successfully realize the African transformation agenda, governments will have to capitalize on the potential of Africa’s youth. Growing up in an increasingly free and fair continent, the young people of Africa are dynamic, forward-looking and best positioned to find innovative solutions to local chal-lenges through the use of science and technology. To do this, conditions have to be suitable and young people need an environment in which barriers to self-actualization are broken.
Este trabajo describe diversos instrumentos de gobernanza en las universidades, que potencian su papel como agentes dinamizadores del Sistema Andaluz del Conocimiento (I+D+i).
The Applied Research and Innovation Systems in Agriculture project (ARISA) started in December 2014 with the aim of increasing net farm income for 10,000 smallholder farming households in eastern Indonesia. The project was designed to address a key challenge in agricultural research for development: how to ensure that proven research outputs1 are available and accessible for use in farming communities.
This paper reflects on the experiences of the Applied Research and Innovation Systems in Agriculture (ARISA) project to caralyse agricultural innovation by bringing RIs and private sector (PS) actors together in partnerships. Facilitating partnerships to caralyse innovation requires capacity building of individuals as well as institutional change. This note presents an outline of the main strands of the innovation systems research associated with the ARISA project. It begins by locating this in the current discourse on concepts and policy perspectives on innovation and capacity building before setting out key areas of research inquiry and research activities
