This paper investigates the role of knowledge management in African agricultural and rural development policies, and how information and communications technologies (ICTs) can contribute to enhance it. African Policymakers are aware of the importance of knowledge management; however, its actual use is constrained by inter-related factors encompassing the national context and investments in ICTs for knowledge management are still limited.

The output of the document is a guide for a systematic discussion on scaling up of Competitive Grant Schemes (CGSs) for agricultural research and extension at key decision points during the life of an ARD project. The government of Ethiopia gives great attention to agriculture and rural development for the country’s economy development. Dairy development is one of the components of agricultural development. To improve dairy production in certain locality, dairy producers should able to access and use appropriate knowledge for the particular problem at the right time. This research was conducted to assess agricultural knowledge management system and its challenges and opportunities of knowledge management processes in Bure district.
La stratégie de Lisbonne met en avant la nécessité de stimuler la croissance et de créer des emplois dans les zones rurales, elle vise à renouveler les bases de la compétitivité européenne, à augmenter son potentiel de croissance ainsi que sa productivité et à renforcer la cohésion sociale en misant principalement sur la connaissance, l’innovation et la valorisation du capital humain.
Le système d’innovation est un concept clé pour l’analyse des changements socio-techniques qui renvoie à une structure et à des fonctions qui contribuent à développer et à diffuser l’innovation. Cet article propose une approche originale d’analyse d’un système d’innovation au travers des processus de diffusion spatiale d’un produit agricole : l’anacarde (noix de cajou). Les formes et les vitesses de propagation des vergers d’anacardiers sont analysées et mises au regard de la structure et des fonctions du système d’innovation.
Le développement territorial durable requiert des innovations aussi bien techniques, que sociales et institutionnelles. Favoriser ces innovations est l'objectif des récentes démarches d'ingénierie territoriale qui adaptent les processus d'innovation développés en entreprise. Dans cet article, la pertinence de cette orientation est discutée en s'appuyant sur les enseignements d'une recherche-action, menée dans un territoire « fragilisé » : l' « Alto Sertão du Piauí et du Pernambouco », dans le Nordeste brésilien.
