En Colombia, el desarrollo rural requiere de una institucionalidad que contribuya a cerrar la brecha urbano-rural, que cuente con los instrumentos de política necesarios para la inclusión productiva y la promoción de una asociatividad orientada a una ruralidad competitiva. Los 12 años de experiencia de la implementación del Proyecto de Apoyo para las Alianzas Productivas (PAAP) del Ministerio de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural (MADR) aportan lecciones en esta dirección.
Esta publicación es el resultado de un proceso de sistematización participativo facilitado por el Centro Internacional de Agricultura Tropical (CIAT) para el Programa de Gestión Rural Empresarial, Sanidad y Ambiente (PROGRESA). El presente documento busca reflejar la experiencia de fortalecimiento organizativo y empresarial facilitado por PROGRESA en 33 Empresas Asociativas Rurales (EEAARR), a través de un proceso de graduación desarrollado en el marco de Alianzas de Aprendizaje.
El valor de la producción agroalimentaria del estado de Puebla ocupa el sexto lugar a nivel nacional. Sin embargo, los beneficios para los productores de hortalizas de la región no han sido los esperados en gran medida debido al intermediarismo y ausencia de análisis relacionados a la cadena de valor, logística y cadena de suministro. El presente estudio recopiló la información de algunos agentes que participan en la cadena de valor de la producción- comercialización de hortalizas en cuatro municipios del Distrito de Desarrollo Rural de Tecamachalco, Puebla, México.
This case study zooms in on multi-stakeholder processes in the East and Central Africa (ECA) Action Area or Flagship that were launched on 20 May 2013 in Bukavu, DR Congo. The ECA Flagship encom-passes the Rwanda, DR Congo, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia Action Sites. More specifically, the case study describes and reflects upon the first two years of CGIAR Humidtropics in DR Congo. aiming to outline the multi-stakeholder process as it unfolded and highlight lessons that can be learned from this.
To support the multi-stakeholder process in Burundi, the national research institute ISABU (Institut des Sciences Agronomiques du Bu-rundi) was requested to act as the facilitating organisation. ISABU had previously partnered with the CGIAR centres in Burundi under the CIALCA program that had supported partnerships to coordinate activities and stimulate demand-driven research. With the aim of building on existing collaboration and activities, it was decided to re-engage with former CIALCA partners, including ISABU.
This paper provides a retrospective look at a systems-oriented research program, on the increasing occurrence of parasitic weeds in rainfed rice in sub-Saharan Africa, to qualitatively assess merits and identify challenges of such approach. While the Agricultural Science and Technology Indicators (ASTI) initiative provides data and analysis of domestic public and private spending on agricultural research and development for a wide range of developing countries, the literature pays little attention, if any, to foreign assistance to agricultural, fishing and forestry research and agricultural extension. The objective of the present study is to fill this gap.
The study describes the historic development of the Danish Agricultural Advisory Services (DAAS). This is the case of a national advisory system owned and managed by the farmer organizations and financed with public subsidies combined with farmer/user payments, gradually developed to full user payment. The links and relations between the empowerment of farmers and their organizations, their evolving roles in advisory systems, and the innovative financial mechanisms in extension, especially pull-mechanisms, are analyzed.
