This guidebook is meant to help facilitators. Its purpose is to empower organizations with the tools and the skills needed to identify practices which can be brought to scale, to describe and analyze them in detail, and to share the lessons they teach. More specifically, this project aimed to facilitate the adoption of an experience capitalization process in rural development initiatives.
El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo central aproximarse a la concepción teórica de la relación entre la formación de capacidades y los procesos de construcción de conocimiento interdisciplinario sobre desarrollo sostenible. Se parte de la fundamentación teórica acerca de cómo construir conocimiento científico interdisciplinario sobre desarrollo sostenible, para luego explicar cómo este proceso permite desarrollar capacidades en los individuos que le permitan abordar los procesos de planificación y gestión de la transformación social del espacio donde habitan.

La investigación está enfocada a caracterizar el perfil del extensionista agropecuario del oriente del Estado de México tomando las funciones que desempeña, problemas que enfrenta en el sector productivo, necesidades de capacitación y competencias. Los grandes desafíos del sector agropecuario demandan conocer el perfil del extensionista para fortalecer sus capacidades como actores del desarrollo rural, encargados de transmitir conocimientos e innovaciones tecnológicas a los productores para innovar los procesos productivos.
Con el objetivo de confeccionar los planes de fincas a partir de la aplicación de una metodología para tal fin, se realizó una investigación en 25 fincas de los municipios Perico, Martí, Colón y Jagüey Grande (provincia Matanzas, Cuba). Se confeccionó una guía a partir de la metodología de Palma y Cruz (2010), modificada según el contexto cubano, y se capacitó a varios facilitadores que trabajaron con grupos de campesinos, por lo que en la elaboración de los planes se aprovechó los conocimientos de las personas con mayor experiencia.

The study analyzes the current state of Agricultural Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ATVET) in Africa and presents its challenges and opportunities. A review of the ATVET in selected Sub-Saharan Africa countries shows that there are far too few training opportunities for young people and that often, the training offered does not match the needs of the private sector and of local administrations. Situate within new institutionalism literature, this paper builds a complex system model of institutional analysis for adaptive governance. This model combines Young’s institutional environmental analysis method, elements of subsequent environmental governance projects models, and ideas of multiple institutional levels and drivers. By applying the model, policy instruments are identified that build agricultural producer livelihoods improving their adaptive capacity to respond to climate change and drought.
The LIVES project works to increase adoption of value chain interventions through use of improved knowledge and capacity by value chain actors and service providers. Knowledge management and capacity development are important components of the project to fill gaps in knowledge and capacity of value chain actors and service providers. Capacity is defined as the capabilities (knowledge, skills, experience, values, motivations, organizational processes, and linkages) that determine how well value chain actors and service providers utilize resources, market opportunities, and relationships.
