El trabajo se realizó en el cantón Puntarenas en los distritos de Paquera, Lepanto y Cóbano, pertenecientes a la provincia de Puntarenas, ubicado al sur de la Península de Nicoya, con el objetivo de diseñar un modelo de negocios para madera de bosques secundarios, mediante la selección de las especies forestales con mayor potencial de mercado y la caracterización de la cadena productiva de maderas nativas en las áreas seleccionadas.
La presente tesis ha desarrolado un modelo de negocio inclusivo que busca contribuir a mejorar los niveles de desempeño empresarial de la Asociación Apu Pachatusan y de otros actores locales vinculados a la cadena de valor de la fibra de alpaca. Se espera que este proceso también contribuya a mejorar las condiciones de vida de la población rural que se encuentra vinculada a estas asociaciones y que dependen de la producción y procesamiento de esta fibra en el distrito de Marcapata.

Digital agriculture is likely to transform productive processes both on- and off- farm, as well as the broader social and institutional context using digital technologies. It is largely unknown how agricultural knowledge providing organisations, such as advisors and science organisations, understand and respond to digital agriculture. Digitalisation is an integral part of modern agriculture. Several digital technologies are available for different animal species and form the basis for precision livestock farming. However, there is a lack of clarity as to which digital technologies are currently used in agricultural practice. Thus, this work aims to present for the first time the status quo in Swiss livestock farming as an example of a highly developed, small-scale and diverse structured agriculture.
