Rural extension is a process of work and accompaniment with the producer aimed to sustainable development of their skills. In Mexico, a series of extension models have been adapted, that goes from the US, implemented in the early 1980’s, to the hub model or innovation node (platform - demonstration module - extension area) applied since 2010 under the MasAgro Program. The aim of this paper is to analyze the various processes of extension in Mexico.
The aim of this study was to identify the actors involved in the innovation system producers of corn Mexico Center Region, highlighting the role of the actors of institutional support in adoption of innovations. To do this, 490 corn producers served within the framework of MasAgro 2012 program, in the states of Guerrero, Hidalgo, Puebla, Morelos, State of Mexico and Tlaxcala were interviewed. The degree of adoption of innovations was measured, and using the methodology of social network analysis linking between actors analyzed.
Cette partie a pour objectif de retracer l’histoire de la création de l’agroécologie et de comprendre les conditions qui lui permettent d’exister dans un contexte paysan rural. Depuis ces mêmes fermes, les protagonistes essayent de transmettre le sentiment et le cœur de l’agroécologie tout en laissant voir le fonctionnement du MACAC, les pratiques quotidiennes et les réflexions de chaque protagoniste.
This section intends to picture how is agroecology done and lived in a rural peasant context. From their own plantations they try to carry over the feeling and heart of agroecology, while showing the operation of PTPAM at the same time, the everyday practices and the thoughts of their main players.

Ce guide est le premier d’une série consacrée à l’application pratique,sur des cultures de petits producteurs et des systèmes de production agricole spécifiques, du modèle «Produire plus avec moins» de la FAO. Sa publication intervient alors que la production du manioc s’intensifie à l'échelle mondiale, avec une transition des producteurs utilisant les systèmes traditionnels de culture vers la monoculture, vers des génotypes à rendement élevé et vers un recours accru aux produits agrochimiques.
La nouvelle édition annuelle de Défis Sud propose un regard sur les agricultures, avec des faits, des chiffres et des prévisions. Face à l’augmentation de la population, au réchauffement climatique et à la perte de ressources naturelles, les solutions proposées pour répondre au défi de la sécurité alimentaire mondiale devraient davantage miser sur l’agriculture familiale et l’agroécologie.
The objective of this paper is twofold. First, using a three rounds panel data of 7110 households, was investigate the adoption decisions and the complementarities among the four labor-intensive technologies (agricultural extension service, irrigation, soil conservation and planting seeds in a row) and a comprehensive use of four modern inputs (improved seed variates, inorganic fertilizer, pesticides, organic fertilizer) which have been frequently adopted by smallholder farmers.
Nowadays, there are a number of projects tackling on challenges around which this study is based. For instance, the ultimate goal of the current project SKIN is to create a permanent stakeholders’ association on short food supply chain (SFSC) that works on the joint economic growth of the agricultural sector through the exchange of local food practices and through coaching sessions stimulating innovation. It creates a European network of best practices in SFSC that addresses the fragmentation of knowledge in the agricultural sector and supports bottom-up innovation initiatives.
Agricultural research and extension systems are central to unlock the potential of agricultural innovation and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Public agricultural research, extension and advisory services are essential for increasing productivity and promoting sustainable agricultural growth and alleviating poverty.
