The devastation caused in Philippines by Typhoon Reming was the trigger for the Government request to FAO for the project “Strengthening Capacities for Climate Risk Management and Disaster Preparedness in Selected Provinces of the Philippines (Bicol Region)”. This technical project summary report provides a consolidated overview about the specific project activities, the implementation processes, main findings and the establishment of institutional mechanisms that were established to promote ongoing collaboration between farmers, agriculture extension workers, researchers and local governme
In the 90’s first steps were taken in Cuba to strengthen family farming. This project further evolved to become the Local Agricultural Innovation Programme, Spanish acronym PIAL (Programa de Innovación Agropecuaria Local).
These presentations have been used during the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) at the side event "Strengthening Agricultural Innovation Systems for Family Farming. Multi-stakeholder processes to develop capacities to innovate for food and nutrition security", held on 17 October 2019.
The side event pointed out that:

The challenges faced by agricultural systems call for an advance in risk management (RM) assessments.
