A fin de analizar el potencial de un programa multisectorial en América Central, en el marco del proyecto de Integración Económica Regional Centroamericana (INTEC), que cuenta con financiación de la Comisión Europea y el Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores de los Países Bajos, el Centro para la Promoción de Importaciones desde países en desarrollo (CBI) encargó a ProFound – Advisers In Development y al Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza (CATIE) la realización de un análisis de las cadenas de valor (ACV) para cinco sectores predeterminados de seis países: Guatemala, El Salv
Las cadenas de valor juegan un papel importante en la economía global. Sin duda alguna, el análisis de cadenas de valor se ha concentrado en cadenas globales y nacionales más que en cadenas regionales de valor. Sin embargo, en muchos casos estas últimas constituyen la base principal de acceso y articulación con los mercados internacionales. Las cadenas globales de valor tienen su base en los grandes núcleos regionales de crecimiento económico e integración: América del Norte, Asia y Europa.
El estudio de cadenas de valor constituye una herramienta adecuada, ya que además de detectar los llamados cuellos de botella, posibilita visualizar todas las relaciones que intervienen desde que surge el producto hasta que llega al consumidor final. Esto no sólo atañe al flujo productivo propiamente, sino abarca además un conjunto de actores que conforman el marco institucional y organizacional y por lo tanto inciden directa o indirectamente en el propio proceso de la cadena.
Este artículo pretende estudiar la cadena de valor avícola en Cuba, partiendo de una propuesta elaborada por la dirección de avicultura del Ministerio de Agricultura. Primeramente se analizan los principios básicos a tener en cuenta para la utilización de un enfoque de cadenas de valor agregado en el sector avícola en Cuba y, a su vez, se realiza una caracterización de la producción de huevos de gallina y carne de pollos, teniendo en cuenta sus antecedentes y estado actual.
El resultado de un análisis de la cadena de valor en el sector agrícola son insumos para formular y establecer políticas de desarrollo rural, más aún cuando la intermediación hace que el flujo de mercancías sea extenso y se producen sobre precios lo que resta competencia y valor a los productos agrícolas.
The shrimp sector has been one of the fastest growing agri-food systems in the last decades, but its growth has entailed negative social and environmental impacts. Sustainable intensification will require innovation in multiple elements of the shrimp production system and its value chain. The study focuses on the case of the shrimp sector in the Mekong Delta in Viet nam to explore the constraints inthe transition to sustainable intensification in shrimp farming, using an analytical framework based on innovation systems thinking, i.e., an aquaculture innovation systems framework.
Although an agro-based country, the farmers of Bangladesh do not receive significant returns from their products, due to some obstacles blocking the achievement of this ultimate goal. An extension help farmers in their efforts to increase production and quality of their products in order to improve their welfare. This study aims to determine the factors that influence group dynamics, and to find out whether there is a relationship between agricultural extension programs to farmer group dynamics. Data analysis method used is a Likert Scale and analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results showed that the dynamics of the Sri Makmur Farmers Group were categorized as Less Dynamic. This is because the elements of the farmer group dynamics are not going well. Based on the results of a Likert Scale Research with Spearman Rank Correlation obtained a value of 0.221 at a confidence level of 95% (α 0.05).
Extension agent is one of the important factors in the agricultural process to deliver technology information and agricultural programs from government to farmers. The good performance of agricultural extension agents will have an impact on improving the performance of farmers to increase agricultural production.In Langkat Regency, the extension agent performance was not still optimal. Factors affecting the performance of the extension agent consist of internal and external factors.
