Este documento analiza los temas emergentes y sus implicancias respecto a las políticas de desarrollo. La sección 2 aborda las tendencias en la expansión de los supermercados en los países en desarrollo, y la sección 3 analiza los factores determinantes del fenómeno. La sección 4 versa sobre las repercusiones en los consumidores y los minoristas tradicionales, que se encuentran en los eslabones posteriores del sistema agroalimentario, y en los procesadores, mayoristas y agricultores, que se ubican en los anteriores del mismo.
La presente consultoría examina cualitativamente un compendio de lecciones aprendidas por parte de las cooperativas rurales del Ecuador, en su misión de atender las necesidades financieras de los productores agropecuarios. This literature review was developed by the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) as part of the Policies, Institutions and Markets Program of the CGIAR. Its objective is to gain a better understanding of scale up processes, strategies and practices in programmes aimed at reducing poverty through improved markets. Its focus is the dissemination of new behaviour through these markets as a result of the interventions of said programmes.

Se utilizaron métodos de investigación cualitativos como observación, entrevistas abiertas semiestructuradas y grupos focales. Los métodos de investigación cualitativos apuntan a reconocer a las personas como sujetos de investigación y no objetos, valorando sus saberes, vivencias, experiencias. Así mismo, consideran la subjetividad e identidades para la transformación-cultural-evolutiva, que se precisa para llegar a la equidad e igualdad de género.

This report is the result of a study that was carried out for the African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS), to make an inventory of experiences with ‘market-oriented agricultural advisory services’ (MOAAS). Lessons learned have been drawn from the cases studied. These lessons are the basis for guidelines formulated for setting up market-oriented agricultural advisory services.

The agriculture systems in Bangladesh face a growing number of climate-related vulnerabilities. Climate has become increasingly variable over the past few decades, with droughts, seasonal and flash flooding, and extreme temperatures occurring more frequently and the sea level rising. Going forward, it will be critical to have an understanding of how best to address the trade-offs and synergies between achieving agricultural and economic goals on one hand and preparing for emerging climate challenges on the other. The use of evidenced-based decision making is a key part of this process.
This technical report covers the rapid assessment of agriculture finance and its recommendations, the findings of the situation and gap analysis of the Uganda Agricultural Insurance Scheme (UAIS), and where appropriate, presents the WBG’s recommendations for strengthening the scheme; it also includes a proposal for two additional insurance programs, one for crop and one for livestock, targeted at small-scale farmers.
