The ‘ICT based Customer Care Solution for Poor Farmers’ is a case study that highlights Katalyst project’s work in developing low cost ICT solutions for farmers by collaborating with various public and private sector partners. The case study specifically focuses on a missed call based agriculture helpline service that was developed in collaboration with leading agriculture input companies. The service provides agriculture information solutions to smallholder farmers for free. Till date, the service has benefitted approximately 160,000 farmers.
Research, extension, and advisory services are some of the most knowledge-intensive elements of agricultural innovation systems. They are also among the heaviest users of information communication technologies (ICTs). "Ici, ailleurs... la terre qui nous nourrit" suit l’itinéraire de Gavin, jeune maraîcher bio anglais qui travaille dans une ferme du sud de l’Angleterre. Confronté à la perte de ses terres agricoles, il prend conscience de la difficulté de trouver des terres pour développer des projets d’agriculture de proximité comme le sien. Il part alors à la rencontre d’autres fermiers européens qui ont eux aussi bataillé pour trouver des terres et les conserver dans la durée.
This blended learning program for facilitators of innovation platforms was developed working with SMEs from ILRI, IITA, ICRAF and Wageningen University and drawing on materials from FARA and CIAT to sequence content and learning experiences so that learners can rapidly acquire and retain the skills and knowledge they need to fill this demanding role.

The materials used to write this case is drawn from the sources including the semi-structured interviews with managers within Songxiaocai Company, online information, and materials
“We first needed to know who we are, what we offer, and how to offer it,” says coffee farmer Denis Cortez. “We in the partnership organized ourselves, and now all get involved in working for the common good. We are more aware of the impacts of what we do, how to improve quality, and apply on our farms what we learn such as new processing methods.” He is one of thousands of producers that CDAIS and its partners are working with in western Honduras, with clear results.
“The CDAIS project brings an innovative methodology because it creates capacities in us as human beings” explains Carlos Valladares of the Intibucá Farmers Network. “This has improved our understanding of our situation, we have taken full responsibility for it, and are now better able to obtain and manage information to improve producer organizations”. Associations in the region have appreciated the spaces created by CDAIS that allow them to link with other stakeholders, find solutions to common problems, and now, to even take issues to the national policy level.
El objetivo de este trabajo ha sido caracterizar la evolución de la Extensión Rural de nuestro país en los últimos 30 años. Para ello, han sido analizadas las disertaciones, paneles, conferencias y trabajos presentados en las diferentes jornadas realizadas durante el periodo transcurrido desde 1983 hasta 2016.
Este articulo en el marco del proyecto “Territorios Digitales: el INTA, los jóvenes y la ruralidad”, llevado adelante por el equipo de Investigación en Comunicación del INTA Rosario, estudia el perfil tecnológico de los jóvenes en el ambiente rural argentino.
