The Tajik Academy of Agricultural Sciences (TAAS) is the scientific and coordination center of agrarian science in Tajikistan. Established in 1991, TAAS coordinates national agricultural research and extension services in various fields of agriculture, including agricultural policy and food security. TAAS is comprised of six national research institutes in agriculture, horticulture, soil science, animal husbandry, veterinary science, and agricultural economics. TAAS promotes development of new varieties and breeds for crop and livestock production, conservation and sustainable use of genetic resources, and adaptation of technological developments in farming practices, and conducts research in agricultural economics and food security.
