The purpose of this study was to generate information that provide comprehensive understanding of the constraints of tree-crop-livestock farming system in four sites of the Africa RISING project in Ethiopia. The study identified relevant institutions in the study locations to develop modalities for establishment of Innovation Platform (IP). The identified institutions were gathered together to identify and prioritize problems and consult on the improvement of mixed farming system in their area.
The Climate Change and Social Learning (CCSL) Initiative is a cross-organisation group working to build a body of evidence on how social learning methodologies and approaches contribute towards development targets. Together with a select number of participating initiatives from a variety of organisations, we are working towards establishing a common monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework for new projects and programmes using a social learning-oriented approach.
The project of Innovation for Agriculture Training and Education (innovATE) seeks to strengthen the full range of institutions that train and educate agricultural professionals in developing and emerging economies. This capacity building will serve to build an equipped agricultural workforce that can lead to increased social and economic growth.
The organization of the Nutrition Innovation Labs represents a novel model for focusing U.S.- supported research on food and nutrition issues in developing countries. Their aims are to discover how policy and program interventions can most effectively achieve large-scale improvements in maternal and child nutrition, particularly by leveraging agriculture and build human and institutional capacity for applied policy analysis, research and program implementation.
The Agriculture Innovation Partnership (AIP) project, a Feed the Future (FTF) project implemented through partnerships between United States (US) land grant and Indian universities, was to improve the livelihoods of rural populations through several education-related activities to create technical innovations, teaching capacity, and develop extension links within Indian higher educational institutions. These innovations were intended to diversify agricultural productivity and strengthen rural development to be more responsive to local market demands
Automation of essential processes in agriculture is becoming widespread, especially when fast action is required. However, some processes that could greatly benefit from some degree of automation have such difficult characteristics, that even small improvements pose a great challenge. This is the case of fish disease diagnosis, a problem of great economic, social and ecological interest. Difficult problems like this often require a interdisciplinary approach to be tackled properly, as multifaceted issues can greatly benefit from the inclusion of different perspectives.

Or son rôle n’est pas reconnu ni son potentiel soutenu par les politiques publiques.Les chapitres thématiques de cette publication explorent cinq champs d’innovation : « Améliorer la production », « Créer de la valeur par la transformation », « S’organiser pour agir et peser », « Maîtriser les marchés » et « Accéder au financement ».
Si elle ne prend pas en compte le secteur de la transformation qui la connecte aux marchés, l’agriculture vivrière commerciale ne sera pas en mesure de relever les défis de sécurité et de souveraineté alimentaires des pays ouest-africains. La production bananière de Guadeloupe a entrepris une conversion à l’environnement dans le cadre de son plan « banane durable 2008-2013 ». À l’aide d’un cadre théorique en sociologie de l’action publique, les auteures montrent un transfert partiel de la responsabilité de prise en charge des préoccupations environnementales des acteurs publics vers les acteurs privés, conduisant à des formes de privatisation de la gestion des externalités environnementales. La dimension environnementale est alors détournée par les acteurs privés afin de justifier des politiques publiques en leur faveur.
